Fed's Dudley: QE2 Exit Could Take Years

EXCERPT
"Dudley cautioned that it will take months of adding 200,000 to 300,000 jobs to foster a meaningful recovery, and said the Fed's program to buy $600 billion in longer-term Treasuries is unlikely to generate a spurt of growth..."

Translation: If adding 200,000 - 300,000 jobs is the goal... Well, let's see... What's $600 billion divided by 200,000? Anybody have an abacus handy?

GM to Raise IPO Stock Price Range

EXCERPT
"Investor demand for General Motors' shares is so high that the automaker will raise the price range of its common stock to $32 to $33 when its initial public stock offering begins on Thursday..."

Translation: The high demand for shares cannot, I repeat cannot, be simply due to POMO... It MUST be attributable to "sales" in Europe... Right? Right?

Fiat, Ford, Toyota Lead Seventh Monthly Decline in European Auto Sales

EXCERPT
"Fiat SpA, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. led a seventh consecutive monthly drop in European car sales as demand waned after the expiration of government trade-in incentives."

Translation: Ze Cash for ze "clunkAIRS" programme! A hit wherever she goes!

Or could it be?

Federal Workers Making Over $180,000 Increase By 2,000% In Past Five Years

EXCERPT
"Those earning over $150,000 in the past five years have grown from 7,420 to 82,034, a 1,006% increase. More shockingly, those earning over $180,000 has surged from just 805 in 2005, to 16,912 in 2010: a 2,001% increase. And it is on the background of this that Congress is planning on giving 2.1 million federal workers another 1.4% across the board pay raise! Additionally, it appears that the bulk of the gains have taken place since Obama took office."

Translation: How much does a "Presidential" dog groomer, and 2nd assistant to social calendar of FLOTUS make again?... BO should have just been sent to Michael Vick for training, that would save money, and get the economy focused on proper things like those high paying GREEN JOBS...

But apparently, some think the idea of high paying "green jobs" is silly...

Rothschild Buys Indonesian Coal Stakes for $3 Billion

What else can we do with all these billions & trillions? (& aren't 'greenbacks' printed on cotton, not paper)?

An Upcoming 30% Price Increase For Cotton Products And Defaulting Chinese Clothing Manufacturers May Soon Test The "Deflation" Thesis

EXCERPT
"many Chinese clothing manufacturers were nearing bankruptcy and the Chinese government was cracking down on hoarders, speculators and investigating position sizes"

I have an idea... Let's just VOTE ALL THOSE BASTARDS OUT OF OFFICE (and start with some fresh faces)...

Voters are Already Gloomy About a GOP Congress

I'm getting pretty convinced that trading crude is going to become a lifeless existence...

I mean... by the time you parse out all the FOREX changes, and the "petro-dollar" ramifications...

You might as well just start inching long macro on PM's...

Except, of course... what you need to drive your Porsche around...

you know another quote I keep seeing all over the place:

"the rich don't want to pay taxes"

tell me, how many people have any of you ever met that "want to pay taxes"....wtf is this comment, are poor people running around with dollars asking if they can put it toward more taxes?

what a joke, everyone in the world wants the smallest tax bill possible with the most benefits attached to it.

before you argue with this point, realize I'm not a PhD, so maybe I haven't had the proper schooling on this subject.

@karen

when you started talking about "ties"... My mind went straight to LB as well...

Oh yeah... But it's fine to have a $600 billion (and counting) QE2... WHICH IS - essentially - A TAX!

Thanks Bernanke & Keynesians!

Like the other day you posted about why Wisconsites were called badgers, I knew that, but I also knew that they were given the upper penisula in exchange for Toledo. Yup VERY important information...

I can get about 35% of Jepordy questions correct without trying, but I can not spell or figure out those wheel of fortune puzzles worth a bean. Heck even if I did get like $10,000 on the Wheel I would probaly ask to buy Vana White instead of a vowel.

I mean what in the heck would I do with a vowel anyway, at least Vana could make me a samich.

I hope you are all watching CNBC. One of the guests just complained about how high the P/E is on Treasuries. The guest across from him said stocks are cheap because, look, ten years ago the P/Es were over 30. We have a lot of room to run.

I shit you not. These may have been the most clueless guests ever.

The horrible truth starts to dawn on Europe's leaders

"The entire European Project is now at risk of disintegration, with strategic and economic consequences that are very hard to predict.

In a speech this morning, EU President Herman Van Rompuy (poet, and writer of Japanese and Latin verse) warned that if Europe’s leaders mishandle the current crisis and allow the eurozone to break up, they will destroy European Union itself.

“We’re in a survival crisis. We all have to work together in order to survive with the euro zone, because if we don’t survive with the euro zone we will not survive with the European Union,” he said.

Well, well. This theme is all too familiar to readers of The Daily Telegraph, but it comes as something of a shock to hear such a confession after all these years from Europe’s president."

if not... eh- so what if I left a little on the table...

"EU Fails to get Ireland to ask for aid"

I'm really not following this Ireland thing too much, but for me that's a WTF headline...

If the Irish don't want help, they don't want the help. They're probably realizing it's easier to just not make the payments.

72bat said...

yeah, read the bail-out amount would load something north of 20k euro add'l debt on each and every irish citizen. what's not to like?

Indeed. That's the issue, isn't it. The Germans need Ireland to "stick with it." The german banks probably hold a lot of the debt and if the EU dissolved, and Germany had to go back to the Deutch Mark, it would be "lights out" for Germany. Their export industry would be in a shambles as the DM rockets.

The PIGS could then devalue their way out of their problems.

The Irish are making a rational decision, in my opinion. They're looking out for #1, as all humans are wont to do....

denninger his usual outrageous self this a.m. on the presure on ireland..

The European Commission acknowledged that Ireland has come under pressure to accept a bailout.
However, a spokesman for Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Olli Rehn said the pressure was not coming from the European Commission but another player.

Ok, who is it?
Out 'em. Right now.
And if it's a consortium of international Banks this sort of interference with sovereign affairs needs to be met with revocation of banking charters and criminal indictments for Sedition by Ireland.
