getting close to a significant low imo, not for a new bull, but one could easily see a big rally developing from the 985-1050 area.

FV around 1093ish so futures are off more than they appear.

Almost forgot. 1078.87 is/was the 1.618% from the low.

BAC @ 5.25

Getting close...

Update BAC low 5.13. Someone's getting nervous on the trading floor. Constantly looking over their shoulder to see who will move first.

The fight to avoid the "bear" market connotation has begun in earnest.

Doesn't a stock need to trade below $5 for 30 days or something like that? Before funds have to dump it?

I friggin' tied in FF last night? How is that even possible....guess it's better than losing.

Anybody catch Verlander last night....

The guy was throwing 100mph HEAT in the 8th inning....

Nolan Ryan-esqe.

Verlander == beast. Few rough patches last night, but enough to win. Where was CC?

There is no hard and fast rule about equity dollar price that is consistent across pension sponsors (that I know of). Five dollars is the generally cited price, however, sponsors could give cushion in a variety of ways, including (1) a grace period allowed to a fund manager by a pension sponsor during which a fund manager may time a sale to receive best execution, (2) discretion by the fund manager where the security may continue to be held if it is judged that it will rise above the threshold price at some point in the near future, (3) MV volume provisions.

Also, the sponsor may not have a $5 rule at all.

thick Margin cushions are, always, a + ..~

I'm thinking that the 'worst is over'..d-side-wise, in S ..

Was, really, a + to be out 'n about, earlier, though :)

was never a big 'tick watcher', anyway..~

Verlander pitched really well..

He's been looking 'dialed-in'/'on-beam' over the last few starts I've seen him pitch..

easily, one of the Best in the MLB, and having an epic Season...

Here's thinkin' that A.J. pitches 'lights-out', and Porcello's 'Sinker', doesn't..

G5 back in the Bronx~

Bottom line is that bulls couldn't hold 1120 one day and allowed the market to peek into "bear" territory the next. It may not happen today. It may not happen tomorrow. But it's coming.

Verlander threw '11' pitches that clocked in over 100mph in the 7th & 8th innings...

That said... That's his 'MO'... He tends to get 'amped up' in high pressure situations... Sometimes it can lead to bad performances...

Worked out last night tho... It's probably good he had Valverde come in to mop it up...

"Doesn't a stock need to trade below $5 for 30 days or something like that? Before funds have to dump it?"

most funds do their own charter and they can be changed and you issue a new prospectus, nobody should think funds will just dump BAC across the board if they go below $5, not gonna happen

I know lots of funds held Citi right on through, there also seems to be qualifications like if it's still traded on the NYSE the fund can hold it even below $5. I could even envision a fund company saying something like "we value the stock based on it's book value"

it's in a way similar to the whole "you can't hold anything but AAA".....that was never a risk that pensions and funds would all dump across the board the moment it happened

as it has been since 2007, when bad stuff happens....you change the rules.

The usual line I read is that they expect it to be worth more in the future so there's no reason to sell. Can you say Bear Stearns? Countrywide? Washington Mutual?

spoonman said...

"1091 to 1117 in under 30 minutes. Yeah this shit is broken."

No, no Ra. It's just that the efficient market has realized that everything is going to be all right.

Ra,

lol, that figures, as I recall, the John Hancock classic value fund was 80% financials in 2008 it had WFC, C, BAC, all of them.....I believe that was their rationale, that the business was worth so much more, the market was simply wrong

as I also recall, Pzena then doubled and tripled down on those banks

he's a "guru" ya know.....

"...that "Why?" ..."

...is so much better...

Make Emmitt Smith proud :-) (I miss 'Emmitt Smith-ism's on ESPN)... You know, the ESPN that just stopped airing Hank Williams Jr. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? after more than a quarter century because they're afraid of either...

- inciting RACE riots in 'Bristol Connecticut'
- or Obama sending a predator drone in to KILL Hank Williams Jr. for excercising his first Amendment rights... (you know - for his own SAFETY) & the safety for the ears of ALL Americans who 'SHALT NOT' hear anything remotely attached to QUERY regarding the competency of the teleprompter in chief...

Make Stalin proud!
