Long weekends have not been good for the bears. Usually lead to a skinning session. I hope not.
Bears need to tread carefully on the S&P....indeed.

SPX almost tested the daily 3LB reversal today. When you look at the weekly chart for the SPX it doesn't look that bearish. A long week followed by three weeks of indecision/consolidation. Plus we still haven't tested the weekly 3LB mid.

GOP superdelegates: It's over, Romney is nominee
http://start.toshiba.com/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9TVUMN02%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1018
WASHINGTON (AP) — "It's over, and Mitt Romney is going to be the GOP nominee for president.
That's the growing consensus among Republican National Committee members who will automatically attend the party's national convention this summer and can support any candidate they choose.
Even some members who support other candidates begrudgingly say the math doesn't add up for anyone but the former Massachusetts governor.
"I would be surprised if Romney doesn't get the number he needs," said Jeff Johnson of Minnesota, who supports former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Bob Bennett of Ohio was more blunt.
"Look, Gov. Romney's going to be the nominee, and he's going to have enough votes," said Bennett, who is publicly neutral but said he supported Romney four years ago."

It's Sat eve...
I'm going to 'concede' the putt here to THE FIELD...
Do me a favor tho... I need your address, (you have my e-mail, so send it to me there)...
I guess my bro sent you the $$ from the Booey League, so I need to send you some cash... I don't do 'checks'...
Congrats! Happy Easter!
at this point I'm rooting for Fred & Phil...

@CV.
Sounds good man.
Probably no update from today. We're at friends' house celebrating ... and I was gone all weekend. I'll put out thoughts tomorrow afternoon.
Go Phil.
Bulls NNOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Make your free throws next time.

I was watching The Masters, today..
was surprised that the Greens looked so 'ragged'..'splotchy' 'off-colored' Grass, many 'spike-marks'..like that..
hadn't seen Augusta National look like that since..(?)
of course, the 'Announcers' said nothing of it, though, did you 'see' that, too?
(Or, is the TV thaat 'out-of-whack'...?)
AAIP
btw, Watson (Bubba) can hit some Shots, yes?
that was a great end, was hoping it would go, at leat, to the 10th..~
Monthly Gold & Silver YoY % Performance
@AAIP
Honestly I didn't notice anything particularly wrong with the greens (except for Tigers missed putts ~ lol)...
The only thing I can think of is that since it was so wet on Thursday & Wed night, some mud may have gotten tracked on from the bottom of shoes... But that's probably a silly idea because the greens mowers would have taken care of that, plus, they have a sub air system there, so the greens stay mostly dry & firm...
Main thing I noticed was, no azalea blooms... Extra warm March meant that the blooms came early & were already gone...
Weird seeing hole 13 (where there are 1,200 azalea plants) all green...
~~~
Bubba was fantastic (especially that shot in the playoff)... I kept thinking to myself, him being emotional as he is, that he might not be able to pull the trigger on the 6 incher to end the tournament...
Trivia: No Masters playoff has ever gone to the 12th hole...
Other trivia: The albatross that Oosthuizen made was only the 4th im Masters history... Oddly enough, I went to the Masters once, in 1994... That was the last time that a double eagle was carded (by Jeff Maggert, on 13)...
Maggert was actually playing with a 'marker' because there were an odd number of guys that made the cut... I didn't see the shot, but I heard the roar... I was two fairways over (basically hanging out at the top of the hill on 15)... When you hear roars at Augusta, you always know what hole it's coming from (because of the way sound bounces around there)... You can always tell an eagle roar from a birdie roar, so I figured someone eagled 13 (ho-hum)... But my brother (who was with me at the tournament ~ had been camped out at Amen) saw it & comes bounding up to my spot later & told me about it...
It was the first big roar of the day because Maggert & marker were, of course, playing in the first pairing...
To this day, I can watch the Masters on TV & tell where sounds are coming from... I was watching the telecast with my mom & at one point a roar went up... I said... "That has a sound like someone just made a hole in one on 16"... Turns out there were 2 holes in one in 16...
Should be a slower/odd day for markets. Euro's still on vacation.
Currently the SPX has a daily 3LB reversal down and is below the weekly 3LB mid. But will it hold?
I know you're trying to be funny but really WTF is wrong with you?
10yr yield closed a gap up with a gap down on the daily chart.
@Amen
I'll drop it because it's your blog... But the answer to your question is that the hypocrisy of the original statement is what's wrong with me...
I'm not one to just sit back and be silent when I observe a double standard (which I attempted to bring to light by responding to the comment... I'm clearly in the minority on that...
~~~
Rule number one (in "clubs" or "blogging")... It's your blog/club, so you set the rules...
So if you want to bar me from being a member, just say the word & I'll be outta here... But then if one were to do that, they'd hardly be much different from the 'fellows' who created a private men's club in Augusta...
~~~
For the record, I could care less whether or not what their policy is on women members... All I do is stand by the policy that a PRIVATE CLUB has the right to make its own rules...
All the way down to little boys in tree forts, or little girls in whatever secret societies they decide to assemble in...
There ought to be somebody who sees clarity in that thought... But maybe I'm wrong... If I am, then you're right, there is... CLEARLY... somethiong wrong with me...
There was a thread on Zero Hedge this weekend about some totalitarian scientist who basically said that people who didn't believe in "global warming" were suffering from a sociological disease akin to racism...
The overall argument, IMO, seems to have 'malleable' characteristics... It spreads like butter...
@Amen
I want to be clear about what I just typed above...
~~~
You've always been cool with me & I've always given you thanks & praise since day one...
If you think I've stepped over any kind of line or boundaries, let me know... If you don't want any kind of public blog situation to play out, then please, you're welcome to send me an e-mail and discuss in private... You know my e-mail... It hasn't changed...
I've gotta say openly that I believe that ALL OF THESE factors play into society... The more that people try to sweep things under the rug (or ignore them), the worse things become...
So even if you want to just talk "markets", "technical trading", or whatever... You can't dismiss that, in the end, the market is going to reflect the attitudes of people as a whole... Whether or not they are denying reality then becomes a factor...

you have, much, positive (things) to share, Why don't you?
instead, the majority of what you choose to 'say' is ~negative..
seems to get "tired" (mucho), after a while..
AAIP
@AAIP
I say this totally honestly...
In my eyes, it's ALL INTEGRATED... It's not positive or negative...
It is what it is...
I firmly believe that blisters & boils are as important as cosmetics...
I feel that society focuses too much on the latter (in an attempt to cover up the former)...
~~~
There is no negative and there is no positive... There is only what is...
I'm going to go away now... & leave you all in your happy places...
Buon voyage!
Andy T will be putting up his thoughts this evening so there's no need for a Corner. But the bears had leftovers of the feast. And it was good.
1370 is the 23.6% retrace of the last wave we've been counting...
Been a big move down. It looks like the wave up is over at this point...but man o' man, this 23.6% level been a tough nut.
AT... chicken soup!
Hope you're feeling better... soon
1369.63 is the SPX weekly 3LB reversal price. The SPX closed below its weekly 3LB mid yesterday. I heard traders on Bloomberg figuring a 5% move (down to 1351).
Get well Andy. That bug seems to be getting around.
And...there goes 1370....
1361.43 is the minor 38.2% retrace (between 1576.09 and 1228.74 which are the 100% & 61.8% retraces). the SMA(13) is 1365ish and the SMA(21) is 1320ish. The SMA(13) didn't hold as support.
It appears the market is calling the FRB's bluff. You can talk all you want (Fed speeches) but your gauge of the economy (Russell 2k) will get decimated unless you print.
36.39 is the RSI(14) low from 11/25/11. We're at 38.68 now. Still could go to 30 though.
There was no clear reversal signal other than there was only one close above 1402.42 (50.0% minor retrace) in three weeks. Also no mention of additional QE in the FOMC minutes was a possible signal (not reliable but you know how addicts are).
Hard to get a yield spike when the rest of the world would rather buy US debt than their own.
Just saw that American Sky commercial again. 116.73% on a $5000 loan. YGBFKM. Who in their right mind would borrow at that rate?
The crying bear is not sad. It's tears of joy.
Funny thing. The bulls should have known something was wrong when there was no EOM surge in March.
The market wants to hurt as many as possible in either direction. Could the past few days be the setup for a short squeeze from hell into opex?
Andy T
I'll continue with the Corner until you're ready. Just say the word.
Damn. Alcoa beat on top & bottom. I'm happy for the company but now I'm worried for the bears. The possibility of waking up tomorrow with Dow futures up $300 had increased. Time to tighten up stops.
