Gee that's funny... I was thinking that the government we have now (which includes about the last 3 decades) is, IN FACT a reality show (except for the reducing the deficit part)...

If those workers in Greece stage a 48hr strike during the austerity vote then I wouldn't want to be there if it passes.

Thanks Ra.

Anyone else seeing signs of long term "hope" coming from the Congress/Admin?

I sort of am....

In the last few weeks I've seen proposals to:

a) remove troops from Afghanistan
b) kill ethanol subsidies
c) kill the failed Drug prohibition

I'm also seeing Republican playing some decent hardball on the debt ceiling...

Those are more morsels of logic than I've seen in a long, long time....

Thanks for the charts, Ra. What a day, huh? We all went for milkshakes afterwards. Seemed like that kind of market activity warranted a treat of some sort.

Jennifer....

Treats indeed.

The little writeup on hunstman was interesting...

Think I could probably vote for this guy.

Anyone want to lay even money on a Mormon being the GOP nominee?

It's interesting to me that some of the biggest, most bad-ass prop traders on Wall St. are also very good poker players:

http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-streets-best-poker-players-2011-6

I play in a game, once a quarter, with dozens of other traders and brokers. This one guy, who is a good friend of mine, tends to be at the final table and wins the whole enchilada "a lot."

He's probably the best trader that I know personally.

A month ago, the we were the Final two guys standing...I had more chips than him, but I offered a "split." "Hey, let's just split it. Is that cool?"

Along with being friends, he respects my game enough to take the split.

I was happy he did.

I find there is a very high correlation between the good poker players and the good traders.

Now we know what Super bowl winning QBs have been doing during the lockout....

Pretty funny actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-znHzHafMlQ

Andy, I haven't read the Huntsman article yet, but my gut feeling is that Romney will have more national appeal than Huntsman. I think people will perceive a difference (whether real or imaginary) between being the former governor of Massachusetts who also happens to be a Mormon and being the Mormon governor of Utah. I haven't played much poker, but one of my college roommates could probably support herself that way if she needed to. She's been to the womens' (ladies?) world series of poker (as a player) a couple of times. She is also a professional options trader/market maker. While I was still under the misguided impression that I might actually want to practice law, she traded and was a market maker in the pits at the CBOE. I'm pretty sure that she was the only woman in the OEX pit for a while. She left one employer, took a several week long break, and returned to the pit with a new employer affiliation, only to discover that someone else had appropriated her "spot." She went to war, and successfully reclaimed the spot for herself. Unfortunately, even though she's still in Chicago, we've sort of lost touch.

I'm curious. How will Greece collect these new tax levies when they couldn't collect the ones that are already in place?

@Jennifer.

Understand the sentiment in re: Romney v. Huntsman.

I think the problem, though, is that Romney has gained the perception of 'flip-flopper'...someone who is attempting to 'mold' himself to what he thinks people want.

Also, he's run before and lost. Being a loser is a tough stigma to shake...especially when you lose to some old cranky guy from Arizona.

GOP field really sucks badly....

It just seems like an area where someone 'fresher' can catch fire.

It'll be interesting.

The Options lady from Chicago sounds like my kind of gal.

"Anyone want to lay even money on a Mormon being the GOP nominee?"

It's more than obvious (to me anyway) that the banking kabal (whose interests serve Tel Aviv more than the USA), would like nothing more than to 'pre-seed' the nation with the idea that:

"Look, here are your ONLY choices against our puppet"... We polled everyone in [deseret] & [palmyra, ny] & found it to be true... So go back to your "Merikan Idle" & we'll handle your pre-selection choices for you & inform you about them via our media & news channels... When we have it narrowed down to unwinnables, we'll let you know who they are"...

If it doesn't work, they can always resort to diebold machines...

After all the fight must go on (of draining the wealth out of the United States & Western Europe), under the guise of fighting little evil brown people regimes...

---

The fact is... Israel has always been scared shitless of losing their little piece of turf apportioned to them in 1948 (which, strangely, they can't seem to even stay confined within)...

Besies that, it's lying right smack dab near all that oil in the region...

The United States has 11 full carrier units & 3 amphibious carrier strike units (helicopters & marine assault units)... The ROW has 11 'total')...

It may not be that way forever, but some would like to see it continue to be that way for a long time... (they don't min PRINTING the money for it, then haning you the check - It's was so nice of you, in 1913, to allow them them that honor)...

As for 'who's gaining on us'... Even the Chinese are a long way off... They just finished building their first AC unit (basically a retrofitted Russian model)... & it's basically taken the Russians 20 years to re-animate (more than half of which were, an still are, lost)...

Anyway... Bottom line...

Romney? Huntsman? Obama?... Pffft!

Burden NOT (you little peons) yourselves with decisions like that... All you need to worry about is whether Kate or Pippa Middleton is cuter... Or whether, or not the "PROFIT TO EARNINGS" ratios make 'stock' a good buy at the moment...

Oh & by the way...

Ever wonder why Huntsman's state 'looks' the way it does (instead of like this - which was the original proposed state of deseret):

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/53/Wpdms_deseret_utah_territory_legend.png

Well - when the United States found SILVER lodes in Nevada & GOLd lodes in Colorado...

Ummm... Sorry PEEPS!

---

I'm guessing when they find BITCOIN lodes in downtown Salt Lake City, it'll be all over for the Mormon Faith...
