Morning Corner 5.3.11

YM (weekly info)
new high 12760.00
trend=up
high= 12760.00
rev= 12311.00; mid= 12535.50

Dow futures opened strong but finished weak today. After hours showing some weakness also. This week is already forming a bearish thrusting (continuation) but could quickly develop into a dark cloud cover or bearish engulfing if goldilocks gets eaten (by the big bad wolf who is the bears primo).

IWM/SPY (weekly info)
-no change (above mid)
trend=no
direction=up (1 bar)
high= 0.6344
rev= 0.6010; mid= 0.6177

This substitute for liquidity is indicating that it's drying up. This week is already forming a bearish engulfing. It's also looking to test its SMA(21). The MACD has crossed below zero. Williams %R is still heading down but is not indicating oversold. Rising wedge breakout direction has to be decided soon.

the 'See' part was more 'from the Chart', esp. after that major drop..

Also after that gap higher it couldn't make any additional gains.

Hi Ho Silver hanging on by a thread. that 42 level does look important.

Isn't the Treasury stopping SLGS a way to threaten the states aka senators/representatives. Geithner trying to play hard ball with Congress over the debt ceiling.

If the next apple product fails, I'd see success with WWSJD bracelets

now in white!

Yeah... CV says "eff" that PURPLE TAX thingy on this blog I read over the weekend (which was just a glorified VAT tax)...

I say... Go with the "white" tax...

Anyone who owns a WHITE fone (or AAPL product) ought to get put in the 100% tax bracket immediately!

Andy T said...

Well, the kind of people that buy the Apple products are younger, cooler and party more often. They're altruistic and care more deeply about their common man.

So, yeah, 80-100% tax sounds about right....

DXY getting 'slapped' down into the 72's again...

I'm guessing THE KIND OF PEOPLE who buy Apple products these days are foreigners who are well on their way to getting it FREE...

When DXY hits 70, I'm going to flip on the TV to see if any parties break out, and people are hanging from lampposts on the White House lawn because Obama & the bernank succeeded in KILLING the dollar & burying it at sea...

I like apples, everyone should have at least one tree in their yard, and, one a day keeps the doc away!

Minor 18's almost saying SPX just about to roll over...

1368
...1359
1350
1332
1314

Major 18's 1375 almost touched... close enough? for a short down then resume sometime later this or next week?

BR went all in when? Next Major 18 is 1456, like way up there.

@qqqq18

The market is superstitious... Flash Crash was May 6th of last year... I'm not expecting any heavy buying ahead of that date getting behind everyone...

Just saying...

Oh & Do you like apples?

Man. I'm bummed on Silver. I need to see one more blast higher to get rid of the rest of my junk....

Would be really sweet if $42 could hold....There's actually a daily trendline from late Jan the comes in around $41, so there's a zone of hope just below for Silver bulls....

Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to be content with watching it trade back to $21/oz.

AT,

I bot $44 calls today for month of May on SLV, I plan to unload quickly

I also plan on putting a little cash on some OTM puts (long) for $21, maybe September....if they expire worthless so be it, but we both know what ultimately happens to charts like that.

qqqqtrader said...

B22, charts like what?... this? ...are not bubbles round?

ben22 said...

QQQQ's perfectly part of the new normal, nothing to see there.

one could only be interested in the fact that the head and shoulders has clearly stalled prior to 1375 which was the 3% neckline break area and there is major negative momentum divergence all over the place.

Maybe we'll go back up there but if we throwback all the way to the neckline that will often dampen the return provided by the H&S.

Reading a lot it would seem tons of people jumped the gun on this one, it's very similar but in reverse to the 2009 H&S.

I've got a feeling that Big Head Barry gets smoked on that 90% Long only call. I hope for his clients sake he does ok...

Even if things get clobbered, we'll find out after the fact that he had owned some short ETFs or something.

He's just too good....

re: the Shiny..

http://finviz.com/futures_charts.ashx?t=SI&p=w1

why U$D ~21? wouldn't U$D ~30 be a 'better' spot?

~10 + ~50 = ~60 .. /2 = ~30 (???)

AAIP

Andy T said...

The shiny one went parabolic at 20-21 when it busted out of a big triangle. Markets have a powerful tendency of returning back to the point it launched.

Though, there is definitely a layer of support a 30 for sure.....
