Barrett
You know, Susan, you're kind of ruining Saddam Hussein's posthumous reputation as somebody who stood up to the U.S.!

Lindauer
He was more harsh on terrorists than we were.

Barrett
He didn't get along with al-Qaeda, and he didn't get along with Islamists of any kind, including the Iranians.

Lindauer
That's right.

Barrett
You would have thought that the U.S. would have just kept running him as an American puppet. He got his start as a CIA hit man, apparently.

Lindauer
Yes indeed.

Barrett
So why, why this insane insistence on going to war with Iraq--a war that has killed one and a half million innocent Iraqis and destroyed that country. What was the purpose of it?

Game coming up. CV you might find this interesting. While I was out moving snow from one place to another place, my two labs caught and alternated eating 4 field mice in about 6 inches of snow. Sense of smell. Usually took about 15 minutes per mouse..

CV. I like the Ducks as well....

The line just seemed too narrow when it came out. So many foaming at the mouth SEC types throwing loads of cash at it, and the line was only -2?!

All those Redneck, gun-toting, Palin supporting, Tea-baggers supporting the SEC are going to lose tonight.**

I'm going smaller on an Oregan + Over 72 as well. That "over" was so huge, I just had to "go with it."

If I was in Vegas right now, I would get very cute with things and Take Auburn/Under. Then bet the reverse for the second half. Probably get my ass handed to me "overthinking" it...but, that's where my head is on this game.

** Please note that am I only kidding here. Though, I do have money on this game; and, I do hope Auburn loses.

Oregon is a whirling dervish...+

Andy T said...

This is sort of playing out how I thought in the first half. Think Ore is going to go into half with some confidence. They can move the ball on one of the vaunted SEC defenses. Should be fun second half.

Bruce, I am very excited about your dogs and their doings. If you had an ocean, I would be there by next Christmas.. your new sister! I would pick out a plot and build my new home.

Big stop there for Auburn early in the third quarter.

Anon @ 5:39 PM,

I'm afraid that I can't actually believe this:

I believe the Bush administration PNAC members purposely left the US's guard down -- like FDR for Pearl Harbor -- in order to drum up public support to "take care of the problems in the ME". And for that I do believe they're horrible people. That's a "false flag by omission". But, I don't believe they would actually commit the false flag themselves. I don't think they would murder Americans, even in the name of something strategically important.

Of course, maybe I'm naive and my disbelief is just what leaders want to hear.

Andy T said...

Another big stop for Auburn. Real shitty play call by Oregon.

I'll cross-post this here, too, because some of you might get a kick out of it. Someone on "hoocoodanode" linked to it. It's a German comedian/commentator Volker Pispers talking about the "war on terror". (With subtitles.)

Wow. Can't believe Oregon still has a chance here. Game tied.

Andy T said...

"Geez Louise*"

Lost money tonight, but that's not what I'm pissed about. I'm really pissed at whomever was calling the plays for Oregon. How many friggin' times are you going to try and run it up the middle against Nick Fairley and Co.?

WTF?!

The Oregon offense has been "dynamic" all year long with the mix of a quick passing game and creative running.

That game plan was bullshit.

Sort of left disappointed from the entire BCS game. I can honestly say, having watched both Stanford and TCU in their Bowl games, that they could outplay both of these teams in various ways.

Seriously. Can you say that Stanford could not have beaten that Auburn team?

Can you say that TCU couldn't have held their own against either side?

Pathetic, college football is.

* Hat Tip to DSS for that terrific dorky phrase.
