EURCHF Crashing After Hours On Italian Bank Run Concerns

Less than an hour ago, Larry Kudlow tweeted the following: "Sources tell me Italy has to restructure bonds.Deposit run on Italian banks.EU will have to mount Tarp rescue.Big stress on interbank loans." Basically, this is the worst possible combination for Europe which means that another bailout is not only imminent but has to happen tomorrow. Incidentally Reuters is reporting of an emergency meeting between Sarkozy and Merkel and Zapatero on "the markets" which can only mean damage control following today's disastrous Trichet performance. Too bad the markets won't buy it any longer absent some actual actions to back up the deeds. Yet what we are more concerned about is whether or not there really is a bank run in Italy which would be the end of the euro. For that we went to the most trustworthy indicator for European "bankrunnyess" the EURCHF. To our surprise, the pair just plunged nearly 100 pips after hours, after dropping over 200 pips from intraday highs following yesterday's SNB intervention. Will this force the SNB to intervene again? Find out shortly. AS to what Sarkozy has up his sleeve, we will just have to wait and see when the European markets open in about 10 hours.

Thanks AR.

With today's action, there's 99% certainty that 1350 will not be bettered for the next few years... QE3 or no QE3...that was the peak. It's extremely unlikely....

Even the z-wave higher, which I think is still the best count, will not be able to take out the 1350 area (beginning of this powerful e-wave).

Funny thing. If NFP is BTE then that reduces the need for the Fed to implement QE3. Rock and a hard place.

@Q's,,
previous thread, this:

"well some of his facts are correct but weren't they correct 10 days ago"

always the case with fundamentals man, you can use the same exact fundamental argument to argue both bullish and bearish....most certainly not so with technicals

just consider, I've already heard at least 4 times since 4 today that if the jobs number tomorrow is bad we will "crash"

of course, couldn't you just as well fundamentally argue that the market has been discounting a bad jobs number all week!???

people simply tailor the fundamental argument to their emotion

forward earnings, which is a hilarious joke btw....they look expensive.....just use another measurement of "value" then

ooooh, ooooh, book value

no, no, ,price to sales

and so on.....

and btw, just don't forget that jackass was saying not one month ago that his "biggest worry" was that things were going to go too well and that also as of August 2 the US no longer has a debt problem

how he has any credibility at all is beyond me

now quick, book your ticket to the TBP conference so you can PAY to hear that asshat say this to you in person

ben22 said...

lol, cv

I also looked at your chart!

So since I'm back... Permit me to 'multi-task' here for a bit...

@Andy T
Tiger Woods shot a '68' today @ his return @ Firestone... NOT shabby... & you REALLY think he's not going to at least TIE 'Jack'???

Just send me the roll of '64 Kennedys NOW man!

To ADD a 'special bonus' to the story... ADAM SCOTT shot a '62'... Who TF is ADAM SCOTT (most of you are probably asking yourselves right now)?... Umm... Only this Aussie guy that, for the last month, has 'Steve Williams' (El Tigre's EX caddie) as his new Bagger Vance...

& the beat goes on...

Yeah - I know - NONE of y'all thought of that... That's why they PAY ME THE BIG BUCKS around here...

You know... To THINK OF CRAP you'd never considered - then LAUGH at me when I publish it... :-)

---

@ben
That was flippin SPORTS talk there... Are you happy??? Good!!! Stay that way (& whatever you do - don't click on that francis sawyer chart link)... It makes ZERO sense whatsoever & will only serve to sour your mood...

I'm thinking THAT dude must be some kind of flippin' jerk...

---

Anyway... I was thinking... Today is barry Teleprompters 50th birthday (you know - that chump who was born in Hawaii)...

So I'm thinking the date ought to be made into some kind of 'Holliday'

In this moment... My

TRADING ACCOUNT = zero (by choice)

Which, by definition would presume (according to your mathematics), that my...

WORD = "less than zero"

You know... mathematically speaking & all (& we all know that 'anons' are basically all 'math wizards' - some of whom are SO adept at math wizardry, that their stochastic indicators tell them to draft Lauverneus Coles in the 1st round)...

My only (1st person/singular) question to such phenomenon would be...

"Why do I keep counting...?"

Boy, today was tough.

The brokers sounded despondent throughout the day. They probably moved a lot of inventory, given the panic trading as some of the dumber fixed income managers spontaneously began a sector rotation this morning (and some of the smarter ones charged them a fee for being fickle.

I have been about 65% invested all year, only varying asset classes periodically. However, my junk bond allocation gives me a pretty heavy risk weighting and I took it on the teeth today. Being employed again has taken away my ability to move tactically (required in this market). I think I will have to become a pulseless indexer.

I have half a sense to move cash reserves into risk assets tomorrow in order to front-run the ephemeral rally that will follow new easing/son of stimulus plans that could, at the very least, be hinted by officials between tomorrow morning and Asian open on Sunday.

However, I would rather just keep my fingers away from the trigger, at this point.

Anon,

fwiw, well beyond markets imo, CV does have a lot of very interesting things to say, and there are things you can learn from him too

I might be very critical of certain comments he makes about markets/economy but that doesn't mean I think he has nothing at all to say

@Matthew

"I think I will have to become a pulseless indexer"...

I feel you bro...

Don't let sound bytes like:

"Don't fight the FED"... or...

dilute your resolve...

That's just AMATEUR HOUR bullshit...

My best advice???

Try to figure out where the next OLYMPICS will be awarded... If it's TEL AVIV... double down!

Thanks ben...

I RETURN the compliment... In fact... I think you're the THINKINGIST (that's a new CV word)... MF around these parts...

Remember... CV doesn't SAY SHIT 2B popular (I got OVER the 'popularity' BS trip about 25 years ago)...

Instead - I just want TRUTH to be 'remembered' - unfortunately - one has to FIGHT for truth (more than not)...

CV,

the 50/200 cross is armchair TA

I say this because it's the only cross you EVER hear about in the msm, and so lots of momo's love looking for it

I do not state that one couldn't create a profitable mechanical system using ma cross-overs

but the 50/200 just like the head and shoulders are most certainly mainstream

Did you accept my bet in re: Tiger Woods? I didn't see your acceptance.

Also cv: You think the Saints make it out of the NFC? I was surprised by that one....

I like the Saints...I hope they do make it...it's just that the Packers and Eagles both look like tough competition at some point.

cv said...

@ben (8:43)

Not only do I AGREE (with you)... But I 'double dog down' AGREE with you...

That's the flippin BEAUTY...

It's SO FUCKING STUPID (to armchair it that way)... that it flies UNDER the radar...

IMO - There's a 'bubble' in fucking SMARTIES out there right now... Why?... Oh... let me figure this out... Because the INTERNET even reaches 'Petticoat Junction' these days...

The ONLY way 2 'hide' these days... Is to 'hide in plain sight'... There are ZERO CHARTS which will tell you about this NEWFOUND phenomenon (as opposed to the ABUNDANCE of casual 'anons' who are quick to come out of the woodwork to remind you of how FOS CV is)...

To effectively DOUBLE what I just said... I believe... The 'oh so unmentionable' fed & tptb... are basically so flippin STUPID - that they actually USE those tired old metrics whereby to initiate policy...

Just a hunch...

---

Footnote: (regarding all those PHd 'geniuses' floating around)...

CV, laughably... Is a 'doctor' (yes -it's true)... In the process - I got 2 doctorate 'dissertations' turned down...

Why?

Basically - lack of REFERENCES...

IOW - In my first 2 tries... I didn't do ENOUGH of 'sidling up' to established THOUGHT (in fact - I pretty much dissed a bunch of CRAP I'd read)...

FAIL

Only when I 'built' an argument on pre-established bullshit, was when I was rewarded...

In the end - I was like - "Thanks, but FLIP U"...

---

OTOH... Barry Teleprompter has dozens of these same types in his cabinet & on his advisory committee...

---

So... How bout dem SAINTS?... :-)

cv said...

@Andy T

YES... The '64 Kennedy's roll is "ON"... (I'm a man of my word - I'll TELL you where to dig them out of the earth when the time comes - IF I LOSE)...

---

SAINTS = Superbowl Champions

Can't rightly say (now) if they'll beat the PATRIOTS or the RAVENS in that game...

Heart says RAVENS
Brain says PATRIOTS

ben22 said...

"There's a 'bubble' in fucking SMARTIES out there right now"

CV,

just trust me on this one

it is still a global idiot bubble

cv said...

@Andy

To address your concerns about the Packers & Eagles...

PACKERS
That's going to be a tough out... It'll come down to 'home field advantage' in NFC playoffs... (CV thinks that Saints will have HFA based on conference/division schdeule)... Plus - Aaron Rodgers ha 2 concussions last year... One blow to the head puts the status in serious doubt... They PAY ME to think of these things for you...

EAGLES
Michael Vick has NEVER made it thru a 16 game NFL schedule... I'm skeptical that the Eagles will even win the NFC East (my $$ is on the Cowboys)...

Even if I'm wrong... The Eagles CANNOT match up against the PACKERS (or SAINTS) in an NFC Championship... Why? Rookie linebackers (Eagles) vs. Jermichael Finley or Jimmy Graham...

Game... Set... Match...

---

Plus... untalkated about...

deshawn jackson took a FEROCIOUS hit vs. your TEXANS last year on an unheralded Thursday night game...

He's been 'footsteps' ever since (only 1 T reception)... He's TOAST...

cv said...

@ben

The Battle of Evermore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8qAG5vqhy0

Queen of Light took her bow, And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom, And walked the night alone.

Oh, dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight, And time will tell us all.

Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, Rest not to lock your homes.

Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them all.

I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow.

The apples of the valley hold, The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care, Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light.

The apples turn to brown and black, The tyrant's face is red.

Oh the war is common cry, Pick up you swords and fly.
[| From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/l/led-zeppelin-lyrics/the-battle-of-evermore-lyrics.html |]
The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know.

Oh, well, the night is long the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow.

The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall, the ring wraiths ride in black, Ride on.

Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold.

Oh dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back. Bring it back.

At last the sun is shining, The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness, the sunlight blinds his eyes.
