>> What "industries" exist AFTER you've gotten to "industry Z"?

After the invention of AI, I don't know what comes next. But, we'll find out soon enough. My guess is within 25 years. We're "finding out" in "step functions" along the way (e.g., replacing retail distribution businesses -- and everyone they employ -- with the internet).

The social upheaval in the next 25 years will be amazing. Everything is coming to a head.

ROR... That's WHY THEY PAY CV the "big bucks"...

---

in other news (from other thread)

Went through the mid like a hot knife through butter

Butterknives??? Hmmm... Remind you of anything??? Like trying to hit that 2-iron off a hilly lie??? (or a "3-wood" - as the case may be)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0tTtEnzFv0

But I understand the problems with the 2-iron (aka - butterknife)...

But, you know, sometimes I fan that 2-iron...

You better give me the 3...

Is this normal behavior?

The word normal and him don't
often collide in the same sentence.

And sometimes I catch
that 3 a little thin too.

- I've hit flyers with the 4...
- I've hooked my 5...
- I've shanked the 6...
- Sculled the 8...
- Fatted the 9...
- Chili-dipped the wedge...
- And I've bladed the sand...

Putter?

There is Mr.3 Wiggle, isn't there?

But then there's the 7-iron...

I never miss with the 7-iron...

@AAIP

"Practice Round" can have several meanings...

When I was playing US Am, US Mid-Am, & US Open Q's, the "practice round(s)" were largely what CV was in the game for...

Despite my strong belief in myself & my determination... You have to be a "god", or "robot" to play golf at those levels...

So part of my enthusiasm to compete at those levels was simply to GAIN ADMITTANCE to some hallowed golfing grounds... FOR FREE... CV has played several (or even 'multiple' rounds) at the likes of:

Congressional CC, Merion, Baltimore CC (5 Farms), Caves Valley, Oakmont, Bethpage (Black), Winged Foot, Baltusrol, Philadelphia Cricket Club, Oak Hill, Pinehurst, Seminole, Prarie Dunes, Medinah CC, Whistling Straits, Southern Hills, Honors Club, PGA West, Torrey Pines, Riviera, Pebble Beach, & probably others that I'm forgetting...

An interesting footnote to the story is the following:

What many perhaps, don't know, is that when a course gets selected to HOST a USGA event... It's a PROCESS (that involves both preparation & reciprocation)...

Which means... Up to 2 years BEFORE the course is going to host the event, they need to run tests on 'course changes' (tee box movements - new plantings - green drainage - new grasses - etc.)... Meanwhile - they're testing for 'logistics' (course marshalls - roped off areas - etc.)... So they test it all out in these QUALIFIER rounds (the likes of which, CV gets in under the velvet rope because I can 'hack-a-round' of 71 and thereby basically say 'I'm with THOSE GUYS')...

Then, the same courses have to pay quid pro quo back to the USGA by hosting an event or two...

So I used to just look at the calendar & circle the courses I wanted to play (which included FREE PRACTICE ROUNDS)...

Usually got a nice 'shoe shine' out of it too (tip NOT included)... And a crappy cheese sandwich (which was NOT free - and sometimes even unavailable because the PRACTICE rounds were usually on Mondays when the course was usually closed to the members)...

The only dudes who showed up were the shoeshiners & the caddies (which proved to CV once & for all that they're the only smart & honest capitalists on the planet)...

@AAIP

&... more specific to your qo your question...

The courses I could get it around with a 2 or 3 iron were...

Merion, Caves, & Philly CC... Pebble if it wasn't windy (which was like - NEVER - & even then you needed it on 9, 10, & 11)...

Never look at the scorecard... The defense of most of these tracks is W-I-N-D...

On a calm day... One could bounce around most of these tracks with a butterknife (like most tracks in England)... Good luck finding a calm day...

---

Track CV 'MOST' wants to play (that I've never played - besides, of course, Pine Valley)...

Shinnecock Hills

I gotta say... I only have 2 viable explanations

1. That sound you hear is BLACK HELICOPTERS above your house... But just to let you know, they're NOT 'the BERNANK's' helicopters there to drop you fiat dollars...

2. It's THOR run wild with his interminable internet IP sleuthing... You've been nabbed & reported to the blog police for posting anything remotely anti "GAY-LIBERAL"... Expect to receive a FINE commensurate with that of Kobe Bryant or Joakim Noah...

Thanks, Amen. But, now I can't contemplate a buffer overrun. ;-)

I'm innocent, CV. I'm George Takei-approved. Indeed, my favorite trek episode is "The Naked Time" -- when Sulu takes his shirt off. (Well, no. Actually, my favorite episode is perhaps "The Menagerie", the only two-part episode.)

& on the subject of...

But just to let you know, they're NOT 'the BERNANK's' helicopters there to drop you fiat dollars...

Just a ridiculous question for all the DEFLATIONISTS out there... Who understand that the definition of deflation is the fact that "FIAT MONEY - WHICH IS DEBT MONEY"... & as it gets destroyed... because debt supposedly gets defaulted on... leaving the debt issuers as the bag holders... & reducing the so-called money in circulation... & so on...

I understand (I 'honestly do" - Allen Iverson)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exOxUAntx8I

But how the hell I'm a make my teammates better by PRACTICE?

IOW...

Can you show me 10 examples??? F-ME... Can you show me ONE EXAMPLE... Where the policy response was to SOCIALIZE the debt (& heap it onto the taxpayer - like Thor/&DSS's HERO 'Mancurian Candidate' was instructed to do)???

Answer???

The DEBT is A-L-I-V-E... & It's likely to STAY ALIVE... (Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0JPqu7_JzA&feature=related

So... ASSUMING (& as long as it does - which IS, basically what CV has been saying he's been observing, since 2009 - & going back to the Bernank 'HELICOPTER DROP' addage)...

Well???

How is it that hard to see that the ULTIMATE BAGHOLDERS of that debt will not be you, you, & you...???

Meaning: It'll all get dumped right on your front lawn as the CERTIFICATE holders of those wonderful obligations...

"When you're ready, come on over to my place & let me show you what a real man can do"
CLUBBER LANG

---

For me???

I'll hold onto PM's & even poor man's metal (COPPER)... even as KING DOLLAR makes 'Prechter' a genius for his 15 minutes of fame in this cycle...

thought CA was broke, so, what's up with this? guess they're gonna pay their debts, as planned, adjusted

@4q's

..."whether you're a brotha or whether you're a mutha"...

That's all it's about bitchez!

qqqq said...

CV, and Owebama's approval rating is going up... it must be because he employs competent people like Jacob Lew.

""A bipartisan group of negotiators is "making progress" toward finding a way to both raise the debt ceiling and whittle down budget deficits, President Obama's top budget chief said Monday.""

Why didn't I think of this, raise the debt ceiling so we can whittle it down!

@qqqq said...

@qqqq (10:50)

Despite CV's RHETORIC the past 2.5 years (on BR's blog thru this one)... CV has become a 100% O'Bama supporter (kinda like an 'athletic supporter', if you know what I mean)...

I really don't fucking care who supposedly leads this nation, who's THE MOST POWERFUL ASSHOLE/PUPPET ON EARTH, what 'party' he's affiliated with, whether the fags & 'fag hags' are placated by the aforementioned rhetoric, the 'plebes' that they conscript, or anything else...

---

Insted... What CV 'care's' about is how I'm going to SURVIVE...

- Not the PLANET
- Not the WEATHER
- Not The 'resources' of the planet
- Not extraterrestrial entities that say a RAPTURE or a COMET/ASTEROID STRIKE is going to end it all...
- Not the 'indivinations' of TRADERS, MONEY MANAGERS, POLITICIANS, TPTB... (imploring me that this or that is going to happen)...

---

OK... So now the $64,ooo FIAT question)...

Why is CV... (a former VEHEMENT O'Bama 'denier')... Now on the side of "WHO REALLY GIVES A FLYING FUCK"?...

Answer is simple...

WHO REALLY GIVES A FLYING FUCK???

So - as far as I'm concerned... It's EASIER to bet a 'LOSER' (just for the PREDICTABILITY aspect of it all)... Then it is to take your chances on a WINNER...

CV raises up his 'GUINESS BLACK & TAN' and begs you to see the point of my toast...

In Germany, this year’s state election results are showing that voters are sick and tired of shouldering the financial burden for the rest of Europe. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling party is losing miserably, though in a pathetically desperate move, some local governments are changing suffrage limits and allowing 16-year olds to vote.

This is the strongest indicator yet of how bad the situation in Europe has become: German banks are so over-exposed to the PIIGS sovereign debt that, in the face of political revolt all across Europe, German politicians have resorted to recruiting the Justin Bieber crowd to maintain the status quo.

Simply put, if Greece fails, the banks will collapse, and European financial markets will tank. Politicians will stop at nothing to prevent this from happening… including sticking every man, woman, and child with the bailout bill, as well as pulling socialist-minded teenagers into the voting booths to ensure they stay in power.

Eventually, though, these efforts will prove fruitless. Greece has two months of cash left… and a default by any other name is still a default. The ‘have’ nations in Europe don’t want to foot the bailout bill any more than the ‘have not’ nations in Europe want to accept deep austerity measures.

This is going to cause a lot of turmoil in Europe in the short-term… and as the US government has successfully kicked its can down the road through late summer thanks to the Treasury Department plundering public pension money, investors are free to get their worry on in Europe.

I would suspect gold and silver in euro terms to do quite well as the market looks around, once and for all and realizes that there are truly no good major currency alternatives. This could be the start of a chain reaction.
