Andy,

I hope you get around to some charts this weekend.

It is very interesting what happened this week and we ended (drum roll) right on 1178. I wonder if this is support or resistance.

Your count would still be valid on a weekly. How do you feel about it?

Weekend thread will be up tomorrow (CV's NFL 'pre-season' divisional team analysis & picks)... as long as I don't get too
drunk beforehand - PS... I'm dunk already because the 16 oz Mason Jar that I'm shaking around right now with salt & sugar in it [to 'cure' the salmon gravlax that I'm making for next weeks bagels... well - I just tried to take a swig out of because it mistook it for the beer stein...

...& while we're at it (speaking of salmon - but PROBABLY large mouth bass)... HAPPY FISHING Matthew!

NFL Pre-Season Tonight

cincinnati at detroit (-5)

Jim Schwartz (Lions) is 6-2 preseason as head coach while Marvin Lewis is 17-16... It's hard to detect a pattern there... all things included... PASS

Miami at Atlanta (-3)

Probably subterfuge... Miami 'blows' (personnel wise) vs. Atlants & Bill Parcells is LONG GONE with respect to 4th stringers... Miami coach Tony Sparano is even calling this an 'intra-scrimmage' game... Yet he is 9-3 in pre-season, whilst Mike Smith is 6-6... PASS

Pittsburgh (-1.5) at Washington

Jesus Tapdancing Christ... is THIS a 'teaser' line???

Mike Shanahan is 43-21 in pre-season games while Mike Tomlin is 13-4... Both obviously like to win these 'inconsequential' contests... The Steelers are owned by the 'bookmaking' Rooney family [which probably means they've fixed heavy lines on LOSING with daniel Snyders jewish bankers]...

You might as well bet on whether JPM or GS goes down first... PASS

Tampa Bay at Kansas City (-2)

I don't know how many games into the 2011 season it will take for the PUBLIC to figure out that the Chiefs are 'posers' & the BUCS are 'contenders' (but will probably fall short of the playoff prize)...

But...

Hell... I'd be modestly predisposed to take the 2 points with the BUCS here... Todd Haley is 1-7 in preseason (& now Charlie Weis isn't around to pull his ineptitude out of the fire)... BUCS for 1 unit)...

San Francisco at New Orleans (-3)

Come on Man!

OK... CV has already 'penciled in' a meeting between the Saints & Patriots in Indianapolis next winter...

49ers still have major issues... While I like Jim Harbaugh... Alex Smith???... Still a lot to deal with there (& I don't want to totally count out Alex Smith here... I still think he has possibilities)... But the SAINTS... THIS YEAR... MARK CV's WORdS... Are going to be on a MISSION...

I'll make them my PRESEASON pick to win the SuperBowl...

That doesn't count JACK for the preseason though...

Sean Payton has done an interesting thing... He's going to move the team out to OXNARd, California next week for 10 days (vis-a-vis "Cowboys" ex-camp)... Cooler weather (before they go up to play the Raiders in pre-season)...

To CV? It means Sean Payton, drew Brees, & company are biding their time... They don't need this game... Their eyes are on the NFC South... The Green Bay Packers... then the Lombardi trophy... I'll PASS on this line...

cv said...

I 'wish' I could have found the "FISH ON" scene from 'A Perfect Storm' (in CV's top 20 all time movies)...

Anyway...

Here's wishing you many... "FISH ON's"...

That was 2 Matthew...

Pretty funny how it finished really close to 1178. That's count's valid. We're going to grind higher next few weeks....

Will probably be the greatest shorting/selling opportunity of all time in the next few weeks...

Weekly 3LB Update 8/12/11

cv said...

gonna have to wait a week for the 2011 NFL divisional picks thread...

More inconsequential "pre-season" picks here... I redeemed myself a bit by taking the Bucs over the Chiefs yesterday...

Green Bay at Cleveland (pick em)

Green Bay had to spend yesterday at the White House listening to Obama tell them how the Bears were favorite team... Anyway - I remember the SF Giants were there earlier this summer & Tim Lincecum came down with a stomach virus after meeting Obama & missed two starts (Maybe it was FLOTUS' [fatass lady of the US] okra garden that was responsible...

Mike McCarthy is 9-11 in these contests while we have no data on Pat Shurmer... I'd be tempted to go with the Browns here, except that GB had a lot of injury problems last year early on... Which means, the 3rd & 4th stringers know that they might be auditioning for a role here (even if they end up getting cut, somewhere else in the NFL - they don't want to look bad playing against the Browns...

So all in all, this is a PASS

New York Giants at Carolina (-1.5)

I suppose we'll get a Cam Newton sighting in this game... Nothing is more dull than watching the Carolina Panthers... I do think that Ron Rivera will help them get a few more wins, but really - Jerry Richardson is an idiot as an owner... He overpaid a bunch of players & free agents who won't produce SQUAT... & CV is officially in the "show me" camp on Cam Newton...

I want to see how the Giants are going to move the ball without Kevin Boss blocking & without Steve Smith (now with Eagles)...

Not much interested in this game... Tom Coughlin is 14-14 in the pre-season as hc... Rivera comes from the San diego (lose 'em all before october 25th school of football).

Buffalo at Chicago (-3)

The Bills traded Lee Evans to the Ravens for a 4th round pick... I thought that was interesting, because a 4th rounder is pretty valuable (& most people had got to thinking Lee Evans was washed up - but not Ozzie Newsome - & he's a pretty sharp cat)...

So I guess the Bills are going to go with the Stevie Johnson/CJ Spiller show this year (until CJ Spiller tooses an axel & Fred Jackson takes over - more fantasy frustration for all)...

The Bears get to play their first game since jay Cutler 'quit' on them last year... Well - at least they have Obama rooting for them (so they have THAT going for them)...

Pass on this line & game (Lovie Smith is 15-15 in these, while Chan Gailey is 2-2)...

Indy at St. Louis (-4)

Who knows if Peyton Manning will keep his consecutive starts streak alive when the season kicks off vs. the Texans... Sure enough, he won't see any action here... So it'll be Curtis Painter vs. Sam Bradford (running Josh Mcdaniels new offense)... Until the scubs hit the field...

Steve Spagnuolo is 6-2 in these games while Jim Caldwell is 1-7...

I'm tempted to go ahead an lay the 4 points with the Rams for 1 unit...

Minnesota at Tennessee (-3)

Two first year coaches Leslie Frazier (who 'finished' the season with the Vikings last year but is new to preseason), & Mike Munchak...

In most cases, people woul be drooling to see Adrian Peterson & Chris Johnson on the field together, but CJ isn't even in camp yet because he wants his dollars...

Half of the Vikings got shipped to Seattle, so its hard to know what kind of product they'll put on the field...

I'll take a flying PASS until I see more.

CV,

Whats the word on our FF league this year?

Do we still need more people?

Any ideas on when we might hold the draft?

I can serve as Treasury Secretary for the league, I've been watching Timmay really close, I think I can do this man.

I don't have enough paying customers yet... I'd need you & Andy to come up with a few bodies each...

Otherwise... I'll see if I can't co-opt you into Booeys league (if he's short a few)...

I don't really have any bodies here for a FF. I want to play....Booey seemed like a serious playa'....I wouldn't mind getting co-opted if there's room.

Andy,

The weekly fibos are intersting on the count. Have you noticed the daily's? They are almost spot on as well. If that has been in a previous update, I apologize.
