quote...
"Without additional QE, however, the Fed loses all control of U.S. asset markets, and, by proxy, asset markets the world over. So what it really needs is a sort of timeout, in which it can engage in an immature display of wild-eyed frustration, erratically flailing its hands up in the air, shouting, "We're Done!". Then, it can sit back and watch fear set in the eyes of investors worldwide, as they realize that no more QE means no more over-valued equity and commodity markets. And no more of those means no more towers of leveraged capital producing unspeakable returns 24/7, day in and day out. Instead, all of that imaginary capital will be squashed down into a dime-sized pancake and will return nothing but the foul odor of putridly stale losses."

"Every investor knows that the best and quickest way to make money is to own something that virtually no one else does, right before it gets hot and takes off towards the moon and the stars. An unexpected end to QE operations will send the dollar soaring, and as mentioned before, all asset markets plunging except for the U.S. Treasury market. Bill Gross may have dumped all of his Treasury exposure for now, but has any other major financial institution or money manager followed his suit? Has the Fed announced any plans to sell its Treasury holdings back into the primary or secondary markets?

Of course not. These institutions are not worried about rates surging outside of their control anytime soon, and will be glad to make a few extra bucks from higher interest payments (paid by taxpayers) before the "rush to safety" really gets underway. I suspect that, by that time, there would have been a significant reversal in the Treasury holdings of TRF and the superficial justifications for the investment decisions of the omniscient Bill Gross. Perhaps he will continue to have minimal exposure to U.S. Treasuries throughout the year, as a partial hedge to his fund's enormous cash holdings, but that certainly should not be taken as an absolute bet against the Treasury market."

Holy Submerging Markups, Ra. Major uglies on EEM.

Silver really is UFB, it just goes up every day. Just astounding.

Karen may be gone, but we all remember her Top™. If you look at SPX, the 200DMA is right around 1200, the area formerly known as the KT.

It felt good to have BUCKY with me today. A whole lot of Bucky. The interesting thing is how well many dividend stocks did today. Is this the end of the reflation trade and the start of the growth to value rotation?

At this point, with gold just short of $1500... I can't imagine any major reversal untiul some of these 'psychological attachments' are met...

It might inspire CV to take a look at the GOLD $1,000 level, (and what happened thereafter)...

Is it really that simple?

@Anon
There must be blog where Karen, Ben, I-Man chatting? Anyone know?

While I 'miss' the chatter... If it is, in fact, the case that the 3 of them have taken out a scalpel and carved themselves a little sliver of the universe, just so they can sit around and exchange proprietary thoughts (Bilderberg style) amongst themselves... I hate to say... But I hope they STAY there...

The rest of us knaves are content to 'hack it out' and WORK FOR THE WEEKEND... Oddly enough - I like being WRONG about things... I never learned anything from being right...

So while I'm sad that we're (on this blog) not 'good' or 'priviledged' to receive the daily dose of golden nuggets the 3 of them provided... I can understand their desire to exist in a higher 'Shangri-La' (instead of slumming it with us)... I wish them well anyhow in their endeavor to command the world based on 3 highly enlightened POV's...

Did my personal income taxes today. My net effective Federal rate was exactly 20%, making a "few hundred thousand" dollars. If you include medicare, SS taxes, I effectively paid 24% last year.

My bosses, who each make A LOT more than me, paid 30% in taxes.

When I was on my own a few years ago, making much less money (80-100K living la vida loca), my effective tax rate 8%.

Feels like a progressive tax system to me....

And for that matter... FWIW... CV cherishes "contributions" MUCH MORE than LACK THEREOF...

That notion comes from 30 years of looking straight into the eyes of groups 30...40...50...200 people at a time...

You may think it's IMPOSSIBLE... But you CAN ACTUALLY 'look directly into the eyes' of 50+ people at once... (I've done 10 and even 15 THOUSAND experiences before - but you CAN'T do that - sorry, there are limits)... Probably a 'teleprompter' would be needed in such a case...

Anyway... There's a lot to be learned from that experience (looking into the eyes of 50 or so people at once)...

Especially when you've done it over 15 thousand times...

---

Did anybody know that in any RANDOM collection of about 30-35 people, the 'likelihood' is that it's SOMEBODY's birthday???

Betcha didn't know that! (but I'm sure it was on karen, ben, & I-Man's chatterblog this morning)...

Sour grapes?...

But life goes on...

What is it in the human condition?.. Answer me please with something intelligent... That makes people 'LONG FOR' things that they percieve have been stripped from them?... and INSTEAD... not CHERISH the things that are right in front of their face???

Please... Use all your informed and divinely inspired ANONYMOUS input to answer that question to enlighten us all...

---

Or... Let me pose another dilemma...

If IT IS... IN FACT (as you suggested in your [6:22] comment above - or is that 'another' ANON - I can't keep track) the case that ben, karen, and I-Man are off in their little Bilderberg world as we speak inserting their talons into world control and domination based on one minute market ticks... Then TELL ME... Anon...

What makes you think any of them give a flying fuck about you? (if that's the case)...

Obviously (if that is the case), they're too collectively good and important to give a flying fuck about ANY of us here...

Here's the ROSTER of people who they don't give a flying fuck about... Just for reference...

Not ANDY T (who really started this blog - and continues to STAND to make informative contributions despite the way the wind happens to be blowing)...

Not myself (who spent countless hours coming up with, what I'd considered, entertaining threads for over a year)...

Not AMEN RA (who continues to do so - and moreover SACRIFICED himself to do so when presented with a an 'either/or' choice last year)...

As soon as I'm informed that it is, in fact, a REALITY... That there is a "karen, ben, I-Man" blog... That is going to put the Goldman Sachs prop desk on it's knees and change the Wall Street culture forever, and for the good of humanity, and right all ills in the world on the subject of socioeconomics & gann angles by restoring order to our beleagured planet...

Then I'll shut down (& shut up)...

Until then - All I have to say is... "Thanks for the laughs"... Sorry if you're too PUT UPON to continue...

Party people in the house move

Left to right (groove) work me all night
Come on let's sweat (sweat sweat) baby
Let the music take control (control control)
Let the rhythm move you

You're not missing much. The possible huge double bottom on the DXY is difficult to ignore. On shorter term charts, I don't give much credence to the double bottoms..or double tops...they rarely hold.

ALL CV's tags (on chart technicals), come with a FWIW tag... So 'studiously' I'll add one here...

Can't ALL you peeps see that in this ONLINE day and age that even 'grandma' (no offense ben), can see the same patterns with about two mouse clicks as everyone else?

Peeps - This ISN'T Rothschild, during the Napoleonic Wars, having a courier run back to London to MISINFORM LSE members as to the result of the battle of Waterloo (thereby putting a 'corral' on the Bank of England [and afterwards the entire planetary banking system])?...

Instead... Everything is available to EVERYONE (all in real time)...

So if you believe in the REPORTING... Then basically you're putting your belief in the courier/horserider (hired by Rothschild)...

PLEASE... CV implores you... LOOK BEYOND...

Information means NOTHING (in a 'disinformation' world)...

So... EXTRICATE yourselves from your charts...

Yup... I'd agree...

But wait... Let's look at that 'scientifically'...

Well... FIRST I suppose you'd have to 'characterize' the terms UNNECESSARY & DRAMA...

Then you'd have to cite dozens of specific examples whereby they were combined in the context of rational thought interference (or BLOG DISRUPTION - as the case may be)...

Hardly sounds like Global Thermonuclear War... But if an ANONYMOUS outsider cares to 'dramatize' that UNNECESSAREALITY... Then I'm all eyes... :-)

UM... As I recall... CV "gave up" the SURVIVOR CAPITAL blog in January...

Since then (January)... SILVER is up 30% (even tho I was pounding it since the summer of 2010 - about the time that QE2 was hinted at at Jackson Hole - In which case - IT'S TRIPLED...

Ben (back at that time in 2010, was 'confused' about silver)... I-Man had no opinion... karen - in the past 2 months has FOUGHT with CV day after day about silver... karen was TRIPLE short silver (ZSL)... at $32 (whilst CV was making a standing bet with Andy T that silver would see $50 before it hit $21)... As can be seen on the chart below, after an attempt to ramp equities into the regular close, ES is now back to the lows of the day, where it is joined by Crude and soon- the EURUSD, which leads us to believe that the front and center story today, which was Europe until the S&P escapade, is once again in focus.

The weakness is not isolated to any particular asset class, and while gold saw no sell off following the S&P move earlier, precious metals are not spared now. Curiously, the only class that refuses to budge are LT bonds: the 10 Year has been locked at the 3.37% number since closing and is hardly moving

CV is not a ZEROHEDGE tool... (but I prefer to actually consider some POV's rather than dismiss them sight unseen [for risk of appearing as a blog tool])...

In any case... Cv 'seems' to remember talking (last week) about some kind of SPX 1276 level as some kind of unforeseen level...

& as the case may be... Gold has yet to see $1500... Silver has not 'topped out' at Hunt Bros either...

I-Man, ben, & karen will be along shortly to tell me how wrong I am...

Ah well, another blog I used to enjoy circles the drain. Not the same without Karen, Ben & I-Man.

CV, you don't seem like such a bad guy, and I agree with your "investment strategy", as far as it goes.

But dude. I know this is "your" blog. But you post WAY too frequently! And your posts are WAY too long. I used to read 'em, now I skip 'em. Less is more, my friend.

from tbp and on thru various blog incarnations & permutations, have encountered a lot of folks who made (sometimes) interesting and/or valuable and/or entertaining contributions, among these folks all the blog handles mentioned above and others (bertie fr'instance).
daily time constraints make it difficult to near impossible now to frequent each of the blogs where these folks have dispersed, much less follow each comment section throughout every day.
seems some folks are like oil & water (don't mix well), others like elemental sodium and water (react violently).
just the nature of blogworld, i guess:
"things fall apart; the centre cannot hold"
i'm just a rodney king kinda of guy, but have no time or respect for those who post as "anonymous". c'mon man!
