Hello! Bertie here, the blog will be fine CV.

I think I've mentioned my brothers before, one is a sociopathic commodities trader, one is bipolar and drifts in and out of hospital and the other is the most hilarious dude who is absolutely the life of every party (though inviting him is always a dicey bet as he sledgehammers his views onto everyone who comes within a 5 meter radius).

The trader brother is prickly coz u always imagine that he has pegged u as a complete fool and the nutcase one is tricky coz u don't even know what planet he's on most of the time.

The hilarious one is gold when he's at peace but a real pain when he's agitated (he reminds me, in a nice way, a little of you CV) - anyway most genuine people cut plenty of slack to this brother coz he absolutely wears his heart on his sleeve and they know with certainty that his heart is in the right place even if he goes over the top from time to time.

Now, I'm someone who has had a deflationist bent for quite a long time and, for someone with my mindset, these have been such horrible times to observe that I've progressively given up my cherished views on just about everything.. but nobody wants to come to a blog and get salt rubbed into the wounds. I mean, maybe you were right all along CV and maybe you weren't but the blog seemed to be more about sharing ideas, collectively shaking our heads at the madness of the world, and trying to make a buck in the process - and if this were to degenerate into an ideological proving ground I reckon the whole thing would be over in a flash.

I'm sure that won't happen though coz there's a lot of interesting people here who are most interested in hearing each other's views.

Best Bertie

And, just to chime in again, appreciate so much the wraps from AmenRa.

Has the origin of the name AmenRa already been discussed? Sounds kind of interesting as a mash up of christian and sun-worship terminolgy.

(yes CV, how did you guess, I am having a few drinks - was supposed to be painting the house while the missus went out with her friends today but that aint gonna happen).

It can be either AmunRa or AmenRa. The vowels were not used in the hieroglyphs.

That does sound an awful lot like CV...

Which makes have two things in common this weekend... (except I actually DID get to the painting and am presently splattered in paint)...

On the inflation/deflation subject...

It's basically an example of the Nash Equilibrium... I've come to my part on that (because I'm interested in the practice of the game not the theory of the game)...

Hey folks.

Back from a great weekend of fishing.

I am absolutely "beat to shit"....I'm more tired than I had ever thot I could be while fishing. Combination of drinking, wind, sun, driving home...I'm pooped.

So, no analysis this weekend.

Can say that this rather expensive/first class type fishing lodge was at capacity for the weekend.

Anon@1.57pm

The picture of the SP500 off the highs was NOT bearish, therefore it can only be neutral or bullish over the next several weeks. Though, my bias is for sideways/lower price "chop" this week.

You must have had a great time then!

re SPX/OEX chart... agree, needs time to unfold, and agree with the sideways for some time. (but still gonna buy long a little here and there)

AT,

Dehydration will do that. Drink plenty of water.

Anon@9.01PM

That's EXACTLY the key issue. Dehydration.

"Funny Story" from this 'salty' fishing guide today.

I explained to him that I was originally from California....

He tells me this story (basically verbatim): "California, huh? Man, I had this lady out from California a few years ago. She was this 'tree hugger' type. She explained to me she didn't want to kill any fish--just wanted to 'catch and release' everything. I said 'ok, no problem.'

So, I take her and her husband out with their 10 year old son. We're catching a bunch of trout, but we kept tossing them back. Then, a dolphin shows up. So, every fish we toss back, the dolphin just eats right away. I thought it would be a neat experience to 'hand feed' the dolphin. So, the next one we catch, I just dangle in the water and the dolphin comes right up to the boat and sticks its nose out, looking for for the fish. So, I fed it to him.

The son was pretty excited about it. He thought it was cool. The lady chewed my shit out for feeding a fish to a dolphin in front of her son. She was pissed off at me all day long.

Two weeks later, I get a 'Demand Letter' from this lady's attorney asking for $42,000 in damages because of the psychological damage to her son--she claims he'll need therapy for two years.

I sent her a letter back telling her to fuck off.

She actually sued me in Rockport, TX looking for the $42,000. Well, the Judge called me and asked what this was all about. I told him the story.

Case Dismissed. "
~~~~~~~~~~~
It's stories like that which gives Californians a 'bad name.'
CA Laywer said...
I'm going to sue you AT, if that's your real name, for telling that story without references, feeding a protected species, kidnapping (taking a kid on a boat without written consent), talking to the judge for false amicus curiae before exculpatory evidence was shown before a declaratory judgment was proved, indicating California has a 'bad name' and providing false evidence not proving that California has a 'bad name' as a result, and others... or you, as defendant, can just send a check, hereinto, all will be forgiven.
Thanks for the laugh. BTW you didn't have anything to do with the UoT taking delivery of $1 billion in gold? :-)
