Higher oil prices threaten global economy
Higher oil prices slow US, global economies; US trade deficit rises to 7-month high
..This is the sort of thing that pisses me off. I read at least 10 articles over the last month about how higher gas prices wouldn't slow the US economy this time..."we're not as dependent on oil, I live in New York City and don't drive anyway, I teach in an Ivy League University and don't know which end of a screwdriver to hold" and etc.
OF COURSE sharply higher gas prices will slow the economy. M.O.R.O.N.S..........
Well, the rain finally stopped...(wait for it...)
...it's been snowing all day!
Gotta go, but maybe CV is right.
This deficit must be curtailed or actually, we are doomed...
There, a nice gloomy finish for the day...supper.

Forgot I had that picture. Who wouldn't think that gas prices affect the economy? You're headed to the grocery store and fill up first. After the shock you would take something off the grocery list.

CV would suggest a hearty plate of HAGGIS is in order for supper...
Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally simmered in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach.
Haggis is a kind of sausage, or savoury pudding cooked in a casing of sheep's intestine, as many sausages are. As the 2001 English edition of the Larousse Gastronomique puts it, "Although its description is not immediately appealing, haggis has an excellent nutty texture and delicious savoury flavour".[1]
The haggis is a traditional Scottish dish memorialised as the national dish of Scotland by Robert Burns' poem Address to a Haggis in 1787. Haggis is traditionally served with "neeps and tatties" (Scots: swede, yellow turnip or rutabaga and potatoes, boiled and mashed separately) and a "dram" (i.e. a glass of Scotch whisky), especially as the main course of a Burns supper. However it is also often eaten with other accompaniments.
Don't forget the neeps & tatties!
I lube neeps and tatties.
This REVOLUTION stuff is getting kinda "catchy" these days isn't it?

"Hillary Clinton Will Travel to Mideast"
wow- about time- this middle east thing is finally about to be solved
Well, Amen, I've heard of surcharges to air fares to the Caribbean, UPS and FedEx surcharges, and I've heard plenty of bitching at the mine from all ages and economic strata...
And Obama, bless his little progressive heart, is clueless...
Bruce
Even Southwest Airlines is raising prices.
Your grandchildren may never ride on an airplane...
Think about THAT!
but look on the bright side...
At least they won't have TA's groping them...

you all are too funny!
i haven't even looked at futures (or twitter, lol.) I've been sorting foreign coins.. i should sell them all for scrap.. what am i supposed to do with all these deutschland marks ?! and those crazy british people.. do they love their coins, or what?! they are absurd! too many denominations and the one pound is so bulky.. anyway, i am about blind from it all. some i couldn't read even with a loupe..
Karen-
I had all kinds of British coins-
pence, half pence, blah, blah, blah- all worthless
have some paper dollars from Singapore and Canada and some other odds and ends paper money that is no longer in circulation (because the countries went to dollar coins)-
I am going to see what I can get for them on Ebay-
not worth anything outside of curiosity value
although- I will say- one advantage to paper is that you can convert it-
wherever you are
coins- can't be done
This kills me. Aussie, Euro and Yen are up but AUDJPY & EURJPY are down. SPX fair value around 1290 (only up 2 handles so far). PMs higher and so are USTs. Not much on economic reports tomorrow. Just retail sales and consumer sentiment (UoM).
Nikkei falling hard after reports of another earthquake. Pulling US futures down with it.
@ahab @karen
Box up all those coins and send them to CV...
I'll give you a crisp fresh US FRN for the whole lot (since the dollar is about to become so very valuable - it's going to THE MOON! I tell ya! - I wish my ancestors would have left me a whole box of 1913 paper FRN's instead of spending it on that lousy land)...
I'll even pay your postage (I'll send you a "forever" stamp for your troubles)...
