Morning Corner 10.25.11

NFLX (weekly info)
-no change (below mid)
trend=down
low= 113.18
rev= 203.91; mid= 158.55

No love for NFLX. It has retraced over 61.8% of the rise from Jan 10 to Jul 11. It's almost below all SMA's. It's tested and has held the 38.2% minor retrace (107.26). The small moves higher are made on decreasing volume. After hours show NFLX getting the crap beat out of it.

CSCO (weekly info)
-no change (above mid)
trend=up
low= 17.54
rev= 16.67; mid= 17.00

CSCO appears to have broken out of its downtrend and has been heading higher for the past few weeks. Its trending up on the weekly 3LB. It's now above its monthly 3LB reversal price. It still hasn't tested SMA(55).

XLU (weekly info)
new high 34.73
trend=up
high= 34.73
rev= 33.36; mid= 34.05

XLU has finally broken out of its range to the upside. It's above all SMA's. It's above its 61.8% retrace.

Gold/Silver Ratio (weekly info)
-no change (above mid)
trend=up
high= 54.102
rev= 44.497; mid= 49.230

...According to the Washington Post, the Washington D.C. area has become a great place for those that enjoy "living the dream"....

Washingtonians now enjoy the highest median household income of any metropolitan area in the country, and five of the top 10 jurisdictions in America – Loudoun, Howard and Fairfax counties, and Falls Church and Fairfax City – are here, census data shows.

The signs of that wealth are on display all over, from the string of luxury boutiques such as Gucci and Tory Burch opening at Tysons Galleria to the $15 cocktails served over artisanal ice at the W Hotel in the District to the ever-larger houses rising off River Road in Potomac.

All of this wealth did not get created because the D.C. area is a great center for industry or finance.

Rather, all of these people are becoming very wealthy because of our big, fat bloated federal government.

The following are 10 mind blowing facts which show how members of Congress and federal employees are living the high life at our expense....

#1 When you total up all compensation (including health care and benefits), the average income for a federal worker in the Washington D.C. area last year was $126,369.

#2 In 2005, 7420 federal workers were making $150,000 or more per year. In 2010, a whopping 82,034 federal workers were making $150,000 or more per year. That is more than a tenfold increase in just five years.

#3 In 2005, the U.S. Department of Defense had just nine civilians earning $170,000 or more. When Barack Obama took office, the U.S. Department of Defense had 214 civilians earning $170,000 or more. In June 2010, the U.S. Department of Defense had 994 civilians earning $170,000 or more.

#4 Last year, federal employees "earned" approximately 447 billion dollars in total compensation.

#5 According to a study by the Heritage Foundation, federal workers earn 30 to 40 percent more money on average than their counterparts in the private sector.

so....free college for everyone?

I think we should all go study philosophy personally, for "free" of course, perhaps a minor in storytelling should also be a requirement.

Consumer confidence and Richmond Fed both way worse than expected (39.8 & -6 respectively). They were even below the lowest consensus number.

NFLX gapped down hard at the open but has traded in a very tight range.

According to a Frontline investigation...1 in 300 Americans is now employed by dozens of gubmint/non-gubmint security agencies.

And this just in...I'm now going to have fork over 5.50 to cross the 49th....even if I'm going to 'Rica and my only reason for stopping is to change carriers....coming and going. On principle alone...I'll be going east or west this winter. And the chances of buying Ben a banana-strawberry daiquiri frou-frou...just went up J. Napolitano's fat ass.

"Mel...is that a roll of nickels in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?

"Janet...I didn't think you swung my way."

"I don't like your tone...let me show you to the gitmo bus."

but really, if you end up around DE let me know, I'm always down for a frou frou, or a beer, or shots.....something out a mason jar perhaps

you know how it is....

not sure if you get into him, I guess most people aren't, but I've always been a real big Ryan Adams fan, his new album is his best one in quite a while, imo.
