Wow, 96 posts for the day! Sorry I was busy. But most of them were from the nutjob, so I guess I didn't miss much. Melting nickels takes a lot out of you.

Since its Friday, I will mention that there was a Friday massacre by the Colts today, and I wonder if you were Andrew Luck would you sign with Indy or tell them no. Eli and Archie got a lot of criticism when he refused to sign with San Diego, but it appears the right decision was made then.

My opinion is that if I were Luck, I would strongly resist what is going on in Indy now.

speaking of dual identities from the last thread:

QQQQ/18 alluded to it, that CV has a dual identity, and that other identity = Mutt

he may even possibly have a split personality (not that he's fucking crazy out of his mind or anything) and thinks he's Mutt when when he posts as Mutt

well, apparently I'm not very good at picking up dual identity online

that would just be very strange, I'm punting on that idea

@Anon,

I don't think CV ever denied being in the markets back then, he used to talk about trading all the time, in those days.

also, to be fair to him, he's not a gold bug in the sense that he only thinks it goes up in dollar terms, he does make calls from time to time where he thinks gold will go down for X period of time in dollar terms, he's also claimed very recently (as in for about a year now) that he doesn't care about the paper price of any metals

his primary contention, is that FIAT is evil and will, eventually, collapse

this is the only thing he can discuss anymore, it consumes him

Thinking about "Inflation" while watching Fast Times and Ridgemont High.

So, I'm "bach'ing" this weekend with the rest of the family in Orlando Florida for a competitive cheer event....yeah...I know...we're "those" people.

Anyway...flipping through the channel this afternoon I stop on Fast Times and Ridgemont High to see how badly that movie has aged...and to remember how friggin' cute Phoebe Cates was "in the day."

I tune on the scene where the asshole dude is demanding his money back for his breakfast at "All American Burger."

He's demanding his $2.75 back for this crappy looking breakfast at burger joint.

I'm struck by the fact that I can go into Jack in the Box and get an extremely filling Heart Breakfast Bowl (850 Calories) for not much more than that.....

That movie was from 30 years old.

I know there's a lot of other inflation out there...but c'mon man...the price of fast breakfast in the AM hasn't gone up much...which is nice.

I have thought about that on and off over the past several years. Food is still relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things. Do you think we could ever have a secular bull in the softs in our lifetimes? It seems like a small risk, given how much arable land there is in the world and the adoption of American agricultural methods growing in the developed world. I feel like I read a piece by Jeremy Grantham last year that lays out a case for a catalyst for crop shortages.

those can be interesting 'scenes'..

also, if you 'keep an peeled', to see 'What's Hot' with that 'crowd', it can lead to the 'next' LULU, ANF, et al., etc. ..

with which, you may be able to:

further, 'MMod Prices, throughout the '90s, were ~low...

there wasn't a lot of 'Investment in Capacity' during those Years..

I do not know if any of you has had the oppertunity to whatch an accident take place.

As an outside observer you get to watch as two opposing objects move towards each other to occupy the same space and often times this leads to a vilolent collission.

Normally there is no way to stop this process, so no matter how much you may care for the particpant/s in the unfolding accident it is usually a good idea to just let things take it's course.

So when Cvienne goes on one of his mis-guided tirades calling people out (Place whichever poster/s you want in that slot) it is (In my opinion) just best to sit back and watch the accident unfold, you see I do care about the guy and I think he has viable things to say and can be constructive at times, but we have all watched as Ben, MEH, BnT and countless others have tried to no avail to get CVienne to realize he is his own worst enemy and that the two objects trying to vie for the same space are comining from himself...Which does make him look a bit psychotic.

But ANON (10:24pm) I can assure you 100% Cvienne and I are not the same person, I have never met him, he does not resided in my mind, nor do I reside in his, perhaps someday we will get the oppertunity to actually meet, but I live in WA state and he lives (I believe) in Virgina.

I have never (on purpose) not attached my "mutt" monicur while addressing him or anyone else as I believe in standing by what I have to say, besides I am still completely anonymous and still a Mangy Ass Mutt, I do not believe I have ever debased him or anyone else here or anywhere else - I may have taken some of his words and turned them back on him - But never called him names. I leave the name calling for him

And in my honest opinion, it is better to watch him crash, than to become a participant, but what do I know I am just a Manngy Ass Mutt

FWIW...

I'm very happy to provide fodder for all of you to have fun... I'll count that as a PLUS in the 'societal karma' category (as EVERYONE is entitled to be passersby & thus witnesses to the odd 'train wreck' that occurs ~ which serves as to make themselves feel better about their personal command of the universe & all its bounty)...

Oddly ~ my comment barrage (Friday) was not planned... It actually started out to prove a point... There was a student of mine (in my classes) that used to read the blog (ben knows who I'm talking about)... She said to me on Thursday that she happened to click on the blog this past week and saw that I wasn't really doing much in the comment posting and asked me why...

Of course, I explained that I have gone over the edge of the FIAT FLAT EARTH (from which there was NO RETURN)... She said "Aww... come on!"... So I said "Watch" (& came up with an excuse, that night to bring up the verboten word of FIAT into the comment section)... Which led to the rest...

I think my point was made (to her, at least)...

~~~
Also... FWIW... In my eyes, the best comment on this thread came from ben (2:20 ~ yesterday)... In terms of accuracy...
"I don't think CV ever denied being in the markets back then, he used to talk about trading all the time, in those days.
also, to be fair to him, he's not a gold bug in the sense that he only thinks it goes up in dollar terms, he does make calls from time to time where he thinks gold will go down for X period of time in dollar terms, he's also claimed very recently (as in for about a year now) that he doesn't care about the paper price of any metals
his primary contention, is that FIAT is evil and will, eventually, collapse
this is the only thing he can discuss anymore, it consumes him"
Very accurate, I'd say (probably because ben is the only one, amongst you all, that I talk with privately on occasion)... He may not agree 100% with my reasoning, but at the end of the day he is able to take it for what it's worth... I'd go as far as to say that he WANTS to understand better, but his meters & dials aren't flashing enough yet to do so...
The only thing he is WRONG about is "it consumes him"... Yes, perhaps in a dialogue sense (on a specific blog), but that's about it... The rest of my life is pretty normal...
~~~

So I've become a PHYSICAL PM BUG (since Jackson Hole 2010 ~ as I've stated numerous times on this blog)... I guess that make me "tin foil hat" worthy... So be it...

Wanna know what I'd consider "tin foil hat" worthy?

The people involved to the right side of this graph...

@Bruce

2nd most "correct" thing (from the comment section) came from you...

2 acres is extremely small (practically ~ a joke)...

~~~~
Often times you hear women say "size doesn't matter"... I'd use the same metaphor here... It's not how much, it's what you can do with it...
But I profess I can't really speak on behalf of the aggregate opinions of women... For 30 years I've moved around to the music in synchronicity with them... I haven't had the experience of having them on gurneys though... Perhaps I'm missing something...
So I apologize...
cv said...
Forget about all that though peeps...
Brackets come out 2-nite...
(BEN) ~ this is more directed to you because you're the only one I know that can shift gears out of ther blog BS fast enough to understand...
Thoughts: (this is PRE-BRACKET)
- I don't usually like to take teams to 'go deep' in the tourney that had a rough slog through their conference tournaments (which makes it TOUGH for the tar heels, esp since they lost... I'm gonna have to re-think that one)...
- Other (in that category)... KY & Syracuse suffer (will probably make elite 8, but then?)
- Now I hate Florida State, Mizzou, & Louisville to even make the sweet 16... maybe... it's too fresh, I have to think about it...
Anyway...
BRACKETS BITCHEZ! ~ So at least for a week we can all see how 'Presidential' O-BOMB-us is (& why we were 'idiots' for not voting for him in '08)...
cv said...
Also... ALSO...
Forgot about this... But tonight ESPN is going to air one of it's documentary shorts...
"The Announcement" (Magic Johnson)...
~~~

These ESPN docs are often exquisitely done ("Catching Hell" & others)... I'd highly recommend that any 'sports fans' set the DVR to catch it...

I have no idea whether it will be good or not, but in my experience, they rarely disappoint...

In any case... if you DVR it, (& are otherwise distracted as to either the NCAA Bracket announcement [as Obama is], or whether the Greece default on Friday will trigger a CDS armageddon [as everyone who is NOT American, or NOT named Obama ~ note the subtle discrepancy], you'll have the chance to catch it later)...

OK, so? now? what?

at the EOD, peep, either, take prophylactic measures, or, they don't..yes?

OK, so? now? what?

you act like it's ~'Fine 'n Flippin' Dandy' for you to pick Oscar winners (or not) Play 'Fantasy Sports', Pick Football Winners(or not)...

but, G-d Forbid, is Someone else decides that they 'may as well' "Trade Ticker Symbols"/"Scalp Ticks"/"Buy/Sell Options"/"Punt ETFs", then, all of a sudden, they are, somehow, not Kosher ('unclean') ??

here's a point I'd like to make about the charts that constantly are put out showing the worthless dollar and the value of gold

you know, they were all around in the late 70's early 80's too, those same "looking" charts

and also could have been produced in cycles before that as well

these cycles produce periods of consensus "certainty" that the trend can be extrapolated,..... forever.

spot on

same point I've tried to make the last 6 months +
it has nothing to do with him talking about the collapse of fiat, big deal, as I said before, I, and probably everyone else here was well aware of this long before CV came along. apparently its hard to remember we all "found" each other at an off the beaten path blog (yeah, Barry's blog wasn't always mainstream) at a time when most people were totally in the dark about what was going on

he has no idea what I've done to prepare for this or the steps anyone else here has taken, if anything at all, to prepare for this yet here he is AGAIN claiming to have that knowledge.... apparently can't get out of his mind that trading a slip of paper may only be one small portion of what someone is doing with their "money"

No Doubt!

Had a tooth pulled here in HI, after ins, cost was $172. Wife had 2 teeth pulled couple years ago in Reno, after ins, cost was $48. Now my dentist here wants me to get my roots cleaned, problem is my ins won't cover that procedure in HI... WTF? but is covered in all of the other 56 states. My boss says just get it done in CA, let the Govt reimburse for airfare... crazy world!

Mutt, "18" is an expermental trading method using multiples of 18 and fibo's within those multiples... seems to work more often than not.

QQQQ came about many years ago when I was a scalper and the NDX tracking stock switched to QQQQ (qqqqtrader).

QQQQ mostly posted when it didn't have anything to do with the 18's, and visa-versa. As I said, going to try and only post "signed in" from here on out, and because it's the only option I have to post using the phone.
