Week Ahead Post: Fall Back Ed.

Hello All,

Due to some time constraints, only one new slide on the S&P 500.  From Slide #2:
"Due to another weekend away from home, this will be the only new slide for this update.  The market did reverse strongly at 1296.  The severity of the decline suggests the b-wave lower has become.  1264 looks like decent short term resistance as the 61.8% retrace of the decline.  So far, the fall from 1296 is NOT impulsive looking, which is consistent with the b-wave theory. If this is a b-wave forming, it should be choppy/grinding move lower.  I like the idea of being short  S&P 500 at these levels, looking for a move down to near 1119.   A break above 1264 would cause me to trim shorts.  A break above 1296 would cause me to exit all shorts and a reevaluation."
So, "Short 'em if you got em."

AT,

remind them that 'Daddy Warbucks' was, in all actuality, a War-Profiteer..~

curiously, I find that that point is never communicated to the 'Cast', when that Play comes around..

@AAIP

The Les Miles "hat" references go back a few years when everyone used to make fun of him because he wore a baseball hat with a straight bill (no curve or bend in the bill)...

It was especially funny back then because the "style" of the day was sort out of the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog whereby you had "extra curve" in the bill...

The best way to curve a bill right is to rubber band it around a baseball overnight then tug on it once or twice...

Anyway, the only other one I remember seeing wearing a straight bill like Les Miles used to was Joba Chamberlin... Arguably, he looked even sillier than Les Miles...

This Week:
Reduce Risk
Nearly every traditional asset class is priced to achieve miserably low long-term returns. Meanwhile, our leading economic measures are negative, and the global economy has already begun to show overt signs of a new downturn. We can understand that investors are inclined to hold off any concerns until an economic downturn can be seen and touched in actual (not just leading) U.S. data, but that inclination comes with the prospect of trying to reduce risk when a hundred million other investors suddenly become interested in doing the same thing.

One again, I have to come down on the other side of all these 'breakthrus' that are going to whisk our entire civilization into the future "pain free", "rich", "more socially evolved" (read - more liberal), and of course, with JETPACKS strapped to our backs to get us from place to place (I suppose thos jetpacks are going to be powered by some kind of yet undiscovered FREE ENERGY - that, once discovered will be philanthropically dispensed to the masses in exchange for nothing more than a unicorn smile & accompanied by a few bars of KUMBAYA humming in the background)...

---

What you have here (in this "stem cell driven" utopian of a world is yet ANOTHER step in a long line of HAVES & HAVE NOTS)...

The "haves" (of course), are the elite (with connections, or $$... (Unless, of course, you just imagine a world of FREE CLINICS just constructing themselves & dispensing all this medical marvelry FOR FREE like some kind of futuristic gumball machine... Naturally, the FIRST ones of these clinics that will auto assemble will do so amid poor populations and/or in 3rd world countries... & naturally facilitating access FIRST & FOREMOST to folks who lack the capacity & funds to access such procedures...

Or maybe that's the PLAN... You know, set the access bar at a level that only CERTAIN, YOU KNOW, "WORTHY" types have access to the science of longevity...

After all, just like in Washington & New York, we need these ENLIGHTENED ones to be living longer & assembling themselves at the top of the totem to dispense their ideas of how we should live and act to all the UNWASHED...

Andy... I'm beginning to fear you've been hanging around "lefty" blogs too much...

Both those guys will have several Brazillion dollars by then (and of course, the world will be a better place to live)...

Maybe they could use the technology to bring Bin Laden & Ghadaffi back from the dead so we could kill them a few more times when a bump in the polls was needed, or when a PEACE PRIZE needed to be handed out...

Whadda think?

Yeah me too... I'm pretty sure that the day that the sun blows up to become a red giant, we humans will have INVENTED a decent set of 4-D glasses to witness the spectacle... I'm pretty sure that the Goldman Sachs will hold the proper CDS positions to 'profit' from the event... & I'm sure that Neely will have the right wave count on it...

@Harriet,

I might just as quickly point out that one is a slave to their own mind when they spend time worrying about the sun exploding, as if any of us will live to see the day, being bound by such thoughts must be rough.

in the meantime LIFE goes on, paper money and all.....

personal convictions can most certainly create a slavery of sorts....and I doubt I much need to expand on that thought for it to sink in.

Bound by such thoughts? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'd counter, that what is more 'binding' in the lack of acknowledgement & respect for the nature that surrounds us...

Learn to 'live with that'... It nurtures you as you co-exist with it... It's not your friend if your instincts are to try and control it...

WORSE... If your best efforts land in the realm of just trying to skim profits off others attempts to control it...

in the meantime, LIFE goes on, paper money and all...

Yes it does now... doesn't it? I'm sure we're all the better for it...

So we have THAT going for us...

"Yes it does now... doesn't it? I'm sure we're all the better for it"

yes it does, but the simple observation was that life carries on, whether or not one considers themself better or worse off at any given moment is up to the individual, and whats more, nobody will be around to give such an assessment once the sun explodes.

I would gather, "harriet", from your posts above, that your own personal satisfaction will seemingly come when the end of the human race does, as clearly when described by you, we are simply parasites on a rock that will do the worst possible thing right until the end, that faced with our own collective deaths our only response would surely be to entertain ourselves and apparently "the goldman sachs" now defines "the human race", and so the "better-off" comes in when humans no longer exist. Yes?

further, the usage of the word bound (see 3, adj: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/bound)

is entirely appropriate here, the fact that the response to someone saything they are bullish the human race was to elicit commentary on the sun exploding being tied to what humans identify as currently accepted money isn't exactly silent in its message, and it's hardly the first time its been put down here.

You "would gather"... How quaint... You don't know the first thing about me (apologies for paraphrasing a bit of postscript there)...

we are simply parasites on a rock that will do the worst possible thing right until the end

On a molecular level, were just a few arrangements UP the complexity scale thereof... It's too bad that 'complexity' doesn't often translate into reasoning heirarchal capacity... Therefore, I surmise that we may actually do the "worst possible thing right until the end"... It's not beyond statistical mathematical computation to accredit such an outcome based on species behavioral studies... (What ever happened to those 'wacky' Easter Islanders anyway)?... I guess we got some cool rock carvings out of all their forward thinking-ness to put a few TIKI statues on a table and graphically adorn the artwork on our surfboards... So we have THAT going for us...

that faced with our own collective deaths our only response would surely be to entertain ourselves and apparently "the goldman sachs" now defines "the human race", and so the "better-off" comes in when humans no longer exist. Yes?

You've stumped me there...

For better or for worse... THE Goldman Sachs (or perhaps better described as "the vampire squid" (not relating purely to the entity, but rather to the tentacular ubiquitous nature of the attitude (& adhesion & suction cup qualities that the tentacles seem to have property of - especially on this blog)... In some ways... YES... defines the human race (as they allow it to)...

"Better off" comes in when humans throw off those tentacles, and/or, DIE...

So basically... If you're willing to be FREE, then "better off" means you survive... If you want to be a SLAVE, you're "better off" dead...

---

On the subject of the "SUN EXPLODING"...

The "matter" moment has nothing to do with vaporization, imminency, pre-planning, or anything of the like...

Instead, it has to do with the IDEA of the human nature with brespect to nature itself...

"Bullish on human-ists" can pound their chests all they want and marvel in their WIN...

I'll FADE the humans & BUY NATURE ON THE DIP (in that 'trading' proposition)...

But that's just me...

HT said...

As for how the metaphor on 'the sun exploding' has to do with MONEY (or monetary policy)...

...& or ther socioeconomic ramifications thereof

Well - the last I checked... From a 'physical universe' standpoint... Large stars... IN ORDER... "blow off" their mass (INFLATION), before they collapse & become dwarf stars or Black Holes (DEFLATION)...

But I'm sure there are countless abberations to that thesis in the physical universe if only you look hard enough (OR - if your BIAS is properly aligned)...
