Weekend Update: Father's Day Edition

Special "shout out" to all the Father's out there.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Will start this thread with a look at Silver and Gold with a sprinkle of WTI.  The key "takeaway" from the analysis is that the metals and crude oil look to be heading lower in the week ahead.

Silver and Gold Commentary 19JUN11

Here's a few thoughts on the S&P500. 1295 will be key resistance for next several days.

OK...

So I'm tuning into the beginning of the NBC coverage of the US Open Golf Championship at Congressional...

They do one of the usual 'hokey', image filled, intos (which are supposed to jerk the last of your emotions out of the nether regions of your gonads)...

So what do they do?

Well, the 'soundtrack' (behind the usual montage of historic & patriotic shots), is a bunch of schoolchildren voices... reciting the "Pledge of Allegiance"...

"I pledge allegiance
to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the republic
for which it stands...

then... CRICKETS (just the backgound orchestra music playing)

pause...

with liberty & justice for all"...

---

WTFF?

They not only did this ONCE... But it was repeated TWICE (the same way), in the montage...

Whatever people...

---

On this Fathers Day... Take pride in the fact that you live in a country (and can pledge your allegiance to):

The "liberty and justice for all" (brought to you [NOT BY GOD ALMIGHTY]), but by a banking cartel run by Ritzy's Hampton's BFF's...

---

JPM & the usCONgress... Keeping the world safe from evil terrorist minded grannies speculating with their "tea" sets since 1913...

I'm really rooting for McIlroy today. That guy is an unbelievable talent. I think golf "needs" someone who is a 'world beater' like Tiger....someone to make the other guys play better.

McIlroy's swing is ridiculously good. Just shoot a round par today, son. That should do it.

@Andy T

There was a 'straw poll' on ESPN today...

"Which 22 yo athlete would make the greatest impact going forward..."

CHOICES:

Kevin Durant: 41%
Derrick Rose: 35%
Rory McIlroy: 25%

CV will say TWO things on this subject:

1. I'll take Rory McIlroy on this bet (both in worldwide earnings & in 'recognition' [outside the confines of, of course, 'Cabrini Greens' & the like])

2. I'l just quote 'Coolio' on this one (you know - just so CV doesn't risk getting the tired & usual 'anti-semitic/racist' tag)...

FANTASTIC VOYAGE(lyrics NOT by CV)

"Come on y'all let's take a ride
Don't ya say shit just get inside
It's time to take your ass on another kind of trip cause you can't have the hop
if you ain't got the hip

Grab you gat with the extra clip
And close your eyes and hit the switch
We're going to a place where everybody kick it, kick it, kick it
Yea that's the ticket

Ain't no bloodin
ain't no crippin
ain't no fools in the park set trippin'
Everybody got a stack and it ain't no crack
And it really don't matter if you're white or black

I wanna take you there like the Staple Singers
Put something in the tank, and I know that I can bring ya
If ya can't take the heat get ya ass out the kitchen
We on a mission

Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage
Slide, slide slippity slide
I'm hittin switches on the block in a '65
Come along and ride on fantastic voyage
Slide slide hoo ride, ain't no valley low enough or mountain high

I'm tryin to find a place where I can live my life and
Maybe eat some steak with my beans and rice
A place where my kids can play outside without livin in fear of a drive by
And even if I get away from them drive by suckers
I still gotta worry about them snitch ass niggas

I keep on searchin' and I keep on lookin
But niggas are the same from Watts to Brooklyn
I try to keep my faith in my people
But sometimes my people be actin like they evil
You don't understand about runnin with a gang
Cause you don't gang bang and

You don't have to stand on the corner and slang
Cause you got your own thang
You can't help me if you can't help yourself
You better make a left

Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage
Slide, slide slippity slide
I do what I do just to survive
Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage
Slide slide hoo ride, that's why I pack my 45

Life is like a trip and then you die
Still trying to get a piece of that apple pie
Every game ain't the same cause the game still remain
Don't it seem kinda strange ain't a damn thing changed

If you don't work then you don't eat
And only down ass brothers can ride with me
Hip hop hop your 5 quickly down the block
Stay sucker free and keep the busters of your jock

You gotta have heart son if you wanna go
Watch this sweet chariot swing low
Ain't nobody crying ain't nobody dyin
Ain't nobody worryin everybody's tryin

Nothing from nothin leaves nothin
If you wanna have somethin you better stop frontin
What you gonna do when the 5 rolls by
You better be ready so you can ride

Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage
Slide slide slippity slide if you're living in the city it's do or die
Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage
Slide slide hoo ride you better be ready for the 5 rolls by

Just roll along (that's what you do)
Just roll along (that's right)
Just roll along (that's what you do)
Just roll along (that's right)

Yup - that's CV's last piece of sage advice...

"Stay sucker free and keep the busters off your jock"

Andy,

Thank you for the charts. You have a gift. I'm in awe and very much appreciative of the privilege to view weekly. Your count has been good for months with very little revision - that is not something that even Neely can attest to and he is arguably the best.

You caused me to 'man-blush.'

Thanks for the words.

Now, Rory McIlroy .... holy shit. That won't be his last Major victory. I can't believe he bounced back that well after the Masters debacle.

Hey Andy & Amen...

CV was the first one to publish anything about this (because literally - I typed my 1:51 above within minutes of having the US Open intro aired on live TV...

Glad the WASHINGTON POST reads this blog...

Europe Fails to Agree on Greek Aid Payout

By James G. Neuger and Stephanie Bodoni - Jun 19, 2011 7:28 PM CT

European governments failed to agree on releasing a loan payout to spare Greece from default, ramping up pressure on Prime Minister George Papandreou to first deliver budget cuts in the face of domestic opposition.

On the eve of a confidence vote that may bring down Papandreou’s government, euro-area finance ministers pushed Greece to pass laws to cut the deficit and sell state assets, and left open whether the country will get the full 12 billion euros ($17.1 billion) promised for July.

“We forcefully reminded the Greek government that by the end of this month they have to see to it that we are all convinced that all the commitments they made are fulfilled,” Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker told reporters early today after chairing a seven-hour euro crisis meeting in Luxembourg.

Decisions on the next payout and a three-year follow-up package were put off until early July, prolonging Greece’s fiscal agony and heightening the brinksmanship that has marked Europe’s handling of the unprecedented debt crisis.
