ARE YOU IN?

@qqqq

for some reason, everytime I hear that ubiquitous slogan that O is using "are you in"?, it reminds me of the movie STARSHIP TROOPERS and all those recruiting & propaganda ads that ended with "WANT TO KNOW MORE"?

Which eventually led you to join the military and get killed by giant bugs...

slogan that O is using "are you in"?

that slogan sounds like it came out of a "Mass Movements" 102 Textbook..

Re: IBM

that Chart is looking 'Double-Top'(-y

Not if you look at the MONTHLY charts...

cv said...

Although ~ to your point...

Paper napkin (the only charts I use anymore) shows the last basing of IBM around the 120 level...

120 * 1.618 = 194.16

* as always ~ give 'em enough information to confuse the hell out of 'em...

cv said...

that 120 level was also somewhat of a reverse H&S & occurred in the period between '08 & '10

@Hof

Who do you 'root for' in beisbol? Phillies?

Anonymous said...

cv--

not, to my knowledge, related to Eric (Hoffer)

and, re: the phloppins? No.

have been a long-time NYY & CIN 'fan'

two 'reasons'..

1. I've always been a 'Yankee'..

2. the only 'Reds' I care for, play Beisbol in The Queen City..~
~~

past that, was (am) a long-time Bobby Cox & Joe Torre 'fan'..

and, speaking of 'Craven', definitely, try out some BoSox, and NYMet, 'fanz' ..

the 'Bravos' new Manager reminds me of the cat that's filling-in for Torre..both, seem 'Wooden'..

but, again, No, on the Phloppins' (their 'Offense' is a _______ Disgrace..if they scored any Runs, Cole Hamels would be thought of as, the current, ~'Greg Maddox' .. to begin with..)

I hear ya' (Phils offense)... This year it's going to be an uphill battle all year long...

- Howard is still healing (& he strikes out too much anyway)
- Utley has seen his skills diminish 4 years in a row
- Ibanez can't do it anymore (& probably won't be around)...

Hamels will probably find himself on the left coast next year (he's playing to get his dollars up this year)...

cv said...

I'm a hopeless Orioles fan...

There are only two good things about it...

1. You already know you're going to be in last place in the AL East before the season begins (so you don't sweat it)
2. Camden Yards is still prolly one of the two best ballparks in the country...

~~~~~
I take defeat easy... Grew up a 'Senators' fan (until they moved to Texas)...
Around 2400 years ago a philosophy student of the brilliant and kindly Socrates wrote his conception of the ideal State. Plato's form of government fits our definition of fascism. His "Republic" shares shelf-space with Niccolo Machiavelli's "The Prince" in personal libraries of manipulators of mankind's economic and social relationships, the aspiring fascist dictators of today's nations and, perhaps, of tomorrow's world.
In his "Allegory of the Cave", Plato was able to create images. Lacking today's technology, he devised a hypothetical light-source by means of controlled fire located behind the participants. Thomas Edison's electric bulb was a couple of thousand years in the future. Plato's subjects faced a wall of the cave upon which fire-light cast shadows. The "Allegory of the Cave" gives us a glimpse of Plato's understanding of how easily his countrymen could be manipulated into substituting moving images for reality. His allegory gives us a glimpse of why Plato espoused a benevolent fascism. Along with the light-bulb, Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" and George Orwell's "1984" were in the distant future. Plato would have understood television's enthralling illusions.
Edward Bernays, a double nephew of Sigmund Freud, is often referred to as founder of America's public relations industry. He could not have harbored a more cynical view than Plato's toward his own countrymen. Bankers who pulled the strings of President Woodrow Wilson employed Bernays to manipulate America's masses in support of the first World War. Bernays was successful without television, today's highly efficient source of enthralling and illusory imagery....
I was "AT" Game 5 of the 1970 series at the old Memorial Stadium (with my dad)...
Pete Rose is my hero, because the O's were about to sweep (in Game 4), & we were holding tickets to Game 5... He cane thru in the clutch for the Reds pulling Game 4 out...
they have quite a few good Players, too..
need some more help on the Pitching Staff..
and, they, finally, brought back the 'cool' logo (from '60's/'70's/early '80's)
that "O" hat was the _______ worst..
and, you know, if it doesn't 'knit', in Beantown, the BoSox could wind up 'in the Cellar'..
speaking of Senators and O's..
Frank Howard, and Boog Powell (to say nothing of Brooks Robinson) were 'early' faves, of mine..
cv said...
The problem with the "O's" is PETER ANGELOS...
It's the 180 degree difference between the Ravens & O's... Success starts from the top down... Showalter is an improvement, but I'm guessing he'll end up getting frustrated like Davey Johnson did...
'Bill' could, certainly, make with the word-smithing..
all that H*******t, that was 'popular', at the start of the multi-culti 'Revolution', about 'Bill' being an amalgam of 'many Writers'...
So F****** What? those works, even if they came from the apochryphal 'million Monkeys, at a million Typewriters, for a million Years' would,still, stand on their own..
funny thing with that, though, people hate when you point out that the 'Typewriter' has only been with us since the 1800s..
cv said...
Frank Howard was my FIRST baseball hero...
It took me awhile to like Boog Powell... I used to cheer the Senators (at games in Memorial Stadium in Baltimore)...
I'll never forget one funny evening when there was this butterfly flittering around first base (which Frank Howard tried to stomp on because it was messing with his concentration)... The whole stadium 'BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'ed him... Then, next inning, the same butterfly comes back & Boog Powell actually DOES stomp it out (for which he got his traditional praise of 'BOOOOOOOOOOOG')...
It was funny as shit...
Have you ever seen the documentary film...
"The curious case of Curt Flood"
Excellent!
cv said...
What's also VERY GOOD was the Espn 30 for 30 documentary "catching Hell" (about the Steve Bartman incident)...
You can catch all parts of that on YOU TUBE starting here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4aoxIYgd64
It really says a lot about the 'psychology' of people who don't really look at other human beings as persons, but instead prefer to just 'pile on' when herd perception is tipped to one side or another...
There's A LOT in that documentary...
Anonymous said...
yes, I'm surpruised that Curt Flood doesn't get 'more Play'..
too many Athletes like Micheal Jordan, and Eldrick Woods..too few like Jim Brown..
the flippin' Bartman deal was Insane, there was, even, a "Law & Order"-episode that ripped-off that premise..
one could add 'Cub'-fan to the BoSox and NYMet 'list', as well..
ibid.
cv said...
Be careful...
@Amen ~ u a Cub or White Sox fan? (or neither)...
Speaking of 'White Sox' fan... I couldn't help but see 'Obama' not missing the chance to jump on the 'LIN-sanity' gravy train...
(some news media station had obtained a press release that Obama was keenly watching Lin and is, a fan)
There are more whores out there than Ukranian (cough cough) 'models' on Wall Street...
Anonymous said...
there Are exceptions, that 'Prove the Rule', ya know..
but, yes, was, totally, Cool to see ol' #44 giving the 'shout out' to the 'Linsanity'-Media Circus..
more evidence that that Duude is as, totally, FOS, as I thought he was..(which is nice../so, We've got that goin' for us..)
ibid.
cv said...
I'm telling you... If Ron Paul can't win, then I guess I hope Obama gets a 2nd term...
At least half the population would likely stay 'comfortably numb'... At this point in the UNWINNABLE game, I'd prefer sedated zombies than the media circus that would likely erupt if one of the 'non-Paul' GOP clowns got elected...
We'll see what the DIEBOLD machines have to say... That's probably the easiest part of the whole thing to predict...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vvq_YseZVc
Anonymous said...
"...the media circus..."
I'm thinking that some, more, hard-core "Media Circus" would be preferable..
It might, finally, 'break' "The Mighty Wurlitzer"..
also, We, already know (?) what #44 Part II would look like, yes?
(some do speculate that 'lame-duck' #44 would go 'full-gonzo', but..)
#45 seems like a better bet..
#42, & #43 were, both, two-termers..
do We really need '3 in a row'.. ?
ibid.
cv said...
I just look at it from the DIEBOLD machines perspective...
What's easier?... Continuing with the puppet you have, or "potty training" a new puppet?
cv said...
'democracy' in America is all about making sure the litter (& I mean that 'LITER-ally'), of the side which respresents the opposing side to who writes the software for the Diebold machines (which, are owned, in channels, by the Rothschilds), is weak...
Socially ~ Americans are 'programmed' into thinking that their vote counts for something it keeps them believing in the system...
It's not a hard sell... Rothschild & Co. own Reuters & Associated Press (which feed the 6 major media conglomerates)...
The daily 'diet' is how advanced we are, and how corrupt the rest of the world is (how 'barbaric' & 3rd world it is that they count the votes by hand in open view)...
cv said...
...and yet 90% of the people who read my words here will call me a "tin foil hatter", defend the current system & say it's not that way at all... They'd prefer to stay nestled in THE LIE...
Personally, I'm not a 'doomsdayer'... I just see things for what they are & as much as I've tried to come up with ways to CHANGE it... I realize that I'm pretty much powerless against it...
We're all slaves to the same system... The difference between me & the average other person is that I REALIZE that I'm a slave... Others are deluded into thinking they're FREE...
My FREEDOM comes in knowing I'm a slave...
