Corp (WHR.N) subsidiary and a Tecumseh Products Co (TECUA.O) subsidiary were indicted on Tuesday for fixing the prices of compressors used in refrigerators, the Justice Department said on Tuesday.
The executives, who were indicted in Detroit, are accused of coordinating prices in the United States and elsewhere, the department said.
The indicted executives are Ernesto Heinzelmann, former president of Whirlpool's subsidiary Empresa Brasileira de Compressores S.A.; Gerson Verissimo, former president of a Tecumseh subsidiary in Brazil; and Naoki Adachi, a general manager of global sales at Panasonic.
"Cracking down on international price fixing cartels has been and will continue to be among the most significant priorities for the Antitrust Division," said Sharis Pozen, acting head of the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division.
"Our investigation is continuing," she said.
The three former executives are charged with price fixing, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine, which could run into the millions depending on how much gain was derived from the price fixing.
In late 2010, Panasonic paid a $49.1 million criminal fine in connection with the case and the Whirlpool subsidiary paid a $91.8 million fine...." Tue Sep 27, 2011 4:45pm EDT ~~ ~4 1/4
Last week we heard of glitches which resulted in Germany finding $55.5 billion in missing "debt" and a €3.6 billion error in Irish debt. It was only a matter of time before MF Global also uncovered a "glitch"
* MF ACCOUNT WITH $658.8M IN CLIENT FUNDS SAID TO BE AT JPMORGAN * MF GLOBAL'S MISSING CLIENT FUNDS SAID TO BE LOCATED AT JPMORGAN
Ignore the fact that MF admitted it had commingled and abused client funds. After all, the big boys take care of their own. And what is $660 million to JPM? Here's what - less than the taxpayer money profit the bank makes on one POMO.
And yes, absolutely nobody could have seen this coming:
I went short yesterday afternoon with the intention of holding for up to 5 days but I closed it down earlier today, only made a little bit as my entry yesterday wasn't perfect
but I hear you, worse than holding overnight might be holding short over the weekend, right now in particular
Either way... Anybody could make a case for either team...
As I often say... I'm NOT a SEC 'elitist' by any stretch of the imagination (in fact - I usually take every opportunity to criticize SEC elitists)...
But these are clearly the best 2 teams, and the battle (or at least the HYPE) ought to be epic... The ONE game worth watching from start to finish all year (followed by Ravens - Steelers on Sunday)...
Some games actually live up to the hype...
This is the first TRUE football weekend of the fall (based on 'intensity' of matchups)...

@AAIP
on the subject of 'pins'... You & I have tossed it back & forth over the years & one thing that I've taken note of is that both you & I tend to TAKE THE PINS wherever & whenever opportunity presents...
It is therefore of note that I'm laying pins here...
For all though... I have it as a PICK OF THE MONTH (on my blog)... a "10 unit pick"... There is no doubt in my mind that it's my pick of the month (how could the game of the year not be)?...
However, I exaggerated the UNIT PICKS in an effort to recoup some units from an NCAA losing season... Most of you know that I'm an NFL specialist (& I find the NCAA somewhat of a crapshoot)... I put NCAA picks up because there is interest (by people - to throw their hard earned cash down the toilet - kinda like the stock market when you think about it)...
But the NFL is a better disciplined maneuver...
In REAL LIFE... I'll probably only have a unit or two on BAMA...
So the Nate Washington for Stevie Johnson trade went thru...
I think you're right... It was pretty EVEN...
---
I'm sure you've taken note of the fact that the Booey League is what I'd call a 'synthetic' PPR league (which favors SJ)... I say 'synthetic' PPR because while it's NOT PPR, a 5+ reception performance will net you a point on occasion & SJ gets a lot of targets...
What I was 'trading' was the idea that SJ has to play REVIS ISLAND 2 of the next 5 weeks... We'll see what happens, but my experience is that I don't like to mess with Revis Island...
Also... IF (and that is a big IF), Ottomans Empire makes the playoffs... Week 15 will have Nate Washington going against the Colts again (where he did pretty well last week)... I also like late December games in INDOOR stadiums in FF... An experience I'd had a few years ago where I had an undefeated team (chock full of Browns & Bills) that LOST a week 15 match-up when 8 inches of snow fell in Cleveland)...
I'm slow in getting the weekly 'picks' out this week...
ReplyDeleteIt may not even be until tomorrow morning...
Anyway... As far as NCAA is concerned, there is really only one game... (game of the year)... Alabama - LSU...
I'm going to be siding with Alabama there & laying (5 1/2 points), which is a lot of points but tells you how much I like the Tide in that one...
DEFENSE there (both sides), as well as DEFENSE Sunday Night RAVENS-STEELERS...
Hmmm... I wonder what that means?

With all that is happening, who in their right mind would want to hold over the weekend? Italy is in danger of putting its boot shape up its own rear.
