Morning Corner 11.18.11

FT MIB (weekly info)
-no change (above mid)
trend=no
direction=up (2 bars)
high= 16553.55
rev= 13664.91; mid= 15159.23

Amazingly Italy's index seems to be holding up (for now). It's still below all SMA's. It's below the monthly 3LB mid. It's below the 38.2% minor retrace. Go figure.

ATHEN (weekly info)
-no change (below mid)
trend=down
low= 744.37
rev= 880.08; mid= 812.23

Greece is itching to break to new lows. It's testing its 0.0% retrace. It's below all SMA's. It's making another new weekly low. I don't think the next tranche is going to help that much.

IBEX (weekly info)
-no change (below mid)
trend=up
high= 9224.40
rev= 8141.90; mid= 8683.15

Spain has turned down (kind of obvious if you watch their bond yields). It's now below all SMA's. it's testing its 50.0% minor retrace. It's below the weekly 3LB mid. The MACD appears ready to break below zero.

First there's the rumor that the ECB will funnel money to the IMF to bypass the ECB treaty.

Then there's this: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/19/business/global/bank-chief-rejects-calls-to-rescue-euro-zone.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss
Bank Chief Rejects Calls to Rescue Euro Zone

FRANKFURT — In his first speech as president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi complained Friday that Europe’s political leaders have been too slow to implement their own plan to address the sovereign debt crisis, and offered no hope he would come to their rescue by printing money.

Mr. Draghi, who took office at the beginning of the month, implicitly rejected calls for the E.C.B. to use its enormous financial resources to stop the upward creep of borrowing costs for Spain and Italy, which threaten their solvency and by extension the European and global economies.

Looks like we'll find out for sure whether or not God is on Tebow's side...

Well, the riddle is solved...

GOD is a Shark (because he's definitely not a Jet)...

Carry on...

Most week 11 NFL Picks have been posted... NCAA tomorrow...

http://fantasy-sports-nation.blogspot.com/

---

Oklahoma State plays tonight... Anybody who had read my column all year long knows that going back to the beginning of the season... week after week I kept saying OKSU will move up... OKSU will move up...

They've finally reached the promised land... A #2 BCS ranking (which means if they win out now (2 more games + Big12 Championship), they book their ticket...

This is right about the time that these teams get huge lumps in their throats & start to gag...

The big one on everyone's radar is that they have to play the Oklahoma Sooners next week, but I'd be VERY CAREFUL playing the Iowa State Cyclones (in a weeknight game on the road - tonight)...

I think anybody is out of their minds GIVING 27 points away here... I'm not going to touch the game (only for one reason)...

Vegas has cleaned the publics clock in EVERY SINGLE GAME this week (college & NFL)... Not just Denver last night, but North Carolina Tar Heels (vs. Va. Tech), Memphis, UAB, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Ball State...

Every last one of the huge dogs either covered, or won straight up...

This is one of those weeks where Vegas reminds everyone who's boss... I've been watching it for years... You always know it's coming, but you never know exactly when... That's why on the blog, when I start to get a funny feeling, I advise everyone to keep their powder dry...

Funny thing is, is that the phenomenon has even MORE of an effect than just the games that went the way of the dogs...

What it also does, is it gets people AFRAID to step up & back the SURE THING winners...

For example... Green Bay plays Tampa Bay this week & New England plays Kansas City... Both teams should ROMP (& both are playing at home)... The betting lines are large (14 points or more)... Early in the season, the public would gleefuly lay the points with either... But if they've blown their whole bankroll on a week like this, they start getting afraid (and maybe even decide to take the points with the dogs there)...

Vegas knows what it's doing :-)

ah, good ole bobble, he stated in the comments somewhere around the time of the breakout that "the facts had changed"

guess they changed again yesterday

whatever

but one note, all the on and on in there about higher beta names

higher beta DOES NOT mean higher return, think it through.....

macro quants.....lol

also, fancy quant title aside, they are a momentum shop, make no mistake about it, it's that simple, i subscribed for a while, it's easy to see it

when you get into chop like this momentum gets whipsawed, see the chart in the thread.

and also, if you were trading QQQ and small caps why keep showing a chart of the S&P's breakout?

I would say no of course, and sick bastards that want to touch kids will be more careful than they have been, but they won't stop, while in the net, parents are going to be answering a lot more questions with the authorities

enter a child oversight Czar, or something like that

I've been reading a lot of historical accounts of the birth of communism in certain countries

in many ways it looks like what is starting here, and meanwhile people cheer when Obama says he'd really prefer to bypass congress and write laws himself while others yell even louder in support of bill Clinton saying presidents should be able to serve for far longer than they currently do.

Congress needs a two term limit. Eight years is more than enough time to ruin your country.

We haven't had a day range this small in a LONG LONG time.

It's called the CULT OF PERSONALITY...

People... by and large... are mostly weak minded and unable to really think or stand for themselves...

So in a "so called" DEMOCRATIC society, it soothes them to liken themselves with others simply by virtue that they share a common bond (& regardless of whether or not it's a healthy or nourishing bond to the TRUE individualistic human spirit [which is TRUE freedom])...

Anyway - so along comes a guy that people find some reason to RELATE to (like Obama)... Forget about whether or not he arrived there by his own means, or was groomed to be the CULT OF PERSONALITY figure by backstage puppet masters...

The result is the same...

Hitler was a CULT OF PERSONALITY figure (many 'dictators' & the like are COP figures)...

I'm not comparing Obama to Hitler in any other way that they both share this CULT OF PERSONALITY trait... Where it goes afterwards is for history to decide...

---

I gotta add this too... ANYONE... & I really mean this... ANYONE... back in 2008... who voted for Obama was almost 100% likely to have been among the 'weak minded' crowd that tends to fall prey to a CULT OF PERSONALITY figure...

It's like that scene in Star Wars where Obi-Wan does the 'Jedi Mind Trick' on the Storm Troopers in Mos Iseley...

I'm also serious when I say that it's very hard for me to intellectually dialogue with those sorts of people... I can try as hard as I can to be cordial & friendly, but mostly in the end I get irritated... Because once you've shown your cards and PROVEN that your BAIT for a CULT OF PERSONALITY scam... I don't trust you anymore on a fundamental level...
