Morning Corner 7.26.11

NFLX (weekly info)
-no change (above mid)
trend=up
high= 295.51
rev= 252.22; mid= 262.84

Even though Netflix had a confirmed bearish harami on the weekly chart it appears to be resisting the down move. But after their earnings release that might not be possible. It needs to close the gap on the weekly chart for starters.

Coffee (weekly info)
new low 242.20
trend=down
low= 242.20
rev= 291.60; mid= 266.90

The move down in coffee has enough momentum to take it below its monthly 3LB reversal price. It's already trending down on the weekly 3LB. It's also very close to breaking below its 38.2% retrace. Might be time to start stocking up.

Good thing about stocking up on coffee is that you can use the emptied cans to store your nickles in... :-)

DXY down pretty good and ES, YM, NQ are all struggling to stay positive. Correlations breaking down again?

CV,

when did anyone suggest buying bonds yesterday as an alternative to silver? Is that what we were talking about? I think not. That's pretty funny how you brought things full circle to that, as if it was ever even hinted at....nice try.

@Amen

Bacon grease is the best (that stuff will still be good to use after 80 years)... U kno what makes me laugh... All the people who buy these "food survival" kits... Hardly any calories in those things at all...

Why the hell do you think sailors & civil war soldiers ate salt pork? Not because they were on the Atkinson's diet, I can assure you...

@ben

C-Mon man... You know I only go on those rants to get you riled up & pull your chain... I still think it makes for interesting debate (& I like to hear the 'other' side of things I'm thinking about just to keep the playing field level...

I'm certainly not going to get arguments like the ones you put out there anywhere else, so unfortunately, you have to carry the locks & chains on that one...

Off topic... But it's about time to get focused in on FANTASY FOOTBALL (aka - whatever you do, u don't draft Laverneus Coles in the 1st round... aka - the annual "pay that man [CV] his money" tournament)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbM86BaqpC8

Here's the thing... I got your e-mail (on your suggested buy in)... I'm cool with that, but I can probably only get myself (and if I work at it, can maybe mix in 2-3 others from my network of friends who aren't welching deadbeats)...

So you & Andy have to come up with YOURSELVES & probably 4 others to get a 10 team league going...

ahab? (haven't heard from him in awhile)... 2small2bail (don't know)...

& 18???... Well - my sense is that QQQQ is too smart than to just 'automatically' contribute to the CV retirement fund (mind you - donations are always welcome)...

Anyway - let me know...

Frankly - I'd kind of like a different BANK this year... I nominate either you or Andy to hold the escrow instead of me...

Tell me what you're thinking (Andy - you too)...

CV's 2011 NFL Kickoff post will be published this coming weekend...

I'm ready to rock on Fantasy, my fantasy baseball team is only hanging by a thread right now so my season could be over there soon, and comapred to ff, fantasy baseball sucks. I could hold the money if you'd like but I think you should stay as the commish of the league.

I could probably get a few people for the league if we are short. CV, are some of your guys coming back this year? I have only seen ahab one time at TBP about two weeks ago, figured he might want to come back to redeem himself after last season...come on ahab!

@Andy, do you have a buy in amount in mind? I had asked CV if he was open to upping the ante some this year so we all had a bit more skin in the game, nothing crazy but I'm open to that if others are, we are in this recovery after all. But, if that's going to be a problem then forget it, I just want to make sure we have the league.

As far as the draft goes, as long as we start around 9 or so EST I could pretty much do any night, if we want to start earlier I just need a couple weeks notice.

I'm thinking 2small2bail will play again, he seems to always be up for some fantasy

So I'm thinking we have 4 solids anyway between 2small, CV, Andy and me

I just watched rounders the weekend before last

I think that's one of my favorite movies, in real life though, I'm pretty sure Matt Damon is a putz.

cv, don't think I'd have the knowledge to play FF, don't really follow it. And as for the donation, I don't mind donating to someone who is in need, but, I've been busy donating to another cause... most recent additions to my stash.

@ben

I can pretty much guarantee you, me, Andy, probably Andy's friend (Steve, I think)... My friend V... probably Booey too (but I have to check, because I'm in another league w/him & I don't know how spread out he is... I'm in his fantasy baseball league too...

V... ought to be "for sure" (I might even get in his thousand buckaroo league so $$ is no prob there)...

I'm cool with 'commishing' (& I have the redundant league ready to just activate & go... If you want to escrow the funds, I'll 2nd that nomination)...

You & Andy have to probably get 3-4 playas to jump in...

The BACKUP plan would be to get you guys into Booeys league (with me)... Cause sometimes one or two players come & go there...

Booey's league is $100 (but maybe I could ask him to up the stakes a little)... Main problem there is my own friggin brother (whose wife has her foot on his neck everytime $20 flies out of his pocket - ror)...

interesting... the 1st time SPX price hit 1335 was 3096 trading days ago, more than 12 years ago.

10 years ago to the day it closed 1202.93... (13pt gain/year, about 1%)... we're trending!

I don't know mind co-opting into booey's league for $100.

I'm already in a few leagues for various amounts of money.

Yes, Styx, and Kansas are on tour right now, playing out here (Silicon Valley) next week. Once upon a time, that would have been good for some barfing ;-)

"In the sweet old country where I come from
Nobody ever works
Yeah nothing gets done
We hang fire, we hang fire

You know marrying money is a full time job
I don't need the aggravation
I'm a lazy slob
I hang fire, I hang fire
Hang fire, put it on the wire

We've got nothing to eat
We got nowhere to work
Nothing to drink
We just lost our shirts
I'm on the dole
We ain't for hire
Say what the hell
Say what the hell, hang fire
Hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire
Doo doo doo

here's ten thousand dollars go have some fun
Put it all on at a hundred to one
Hang fire, hang fire, put it on the wire"

CV,

I think that was after Michigan or OSU in 2008

but we dont' need to actually win anything to have one...lol

the big one I got caught in the middle of on my way home was after a loss to Temple in the Sweet 16

that part of town is always a mob scene every weekend regardless of what is going on so any excuse to make it more than that and people go for it

gotta roll out, catch you all later
