HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND EDITION

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

15 Whatever is has already been,
     and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account.

BP's top kill effort fails to plug Gulf oil leak- AP
BP's attempt to plug the Gulf oil leak with mud and cement has failed, yet another setback in the company's attempt to stop the crude from further fouling waters, wildlife and marshland.

...Actually, since Obama has taken personal responsibility for capping the leak, The Headline Should Read," Obama fails in Top Kill Attempt."

...This is so so very silly. What is he going to do, turn this over to the government? What in the world is he thinking when he gets on these rants? And sending Duh Biden to Arlington?
Vacationing in Illinois. If you want the damn ball, then run with it...

Give him a break man (he's heartbroken")

Barack Obama 'heartbroken' as BP top kill fails to plug Gulf oil spill

...at his barbecue

...of what he's HEARTBROKEN, I'm not sure...

a) He'd 'stepped in' when it appeared that a solution might have been possible and therefore could have taken the credit for it (but it ended up not working so he's backpeddeling - Hint: it's back to BP's problem)

b) It ruined his barbecue

c) He bricked his jump shot

d) He had the UNDER in the Flyers/Blackhawks game

e) His close friend Dr. Whitaker was subpoenaed

f) The clock is winding down on his 15 minutes of fame...

Hey... all is not lost... The "Doomsday Clock" was set back a few minutes since he became President... Maybe he can buy a little time...

At least enough to finish the barbecue and get back to Arlington... I mean Washington...

Reuters) - Spain's Socialist government grappled with a deepening political crisis on Sunday, with reforms of a "dysfunctional" labor market hanging by a thread and its chances of survival beyond the autumn looking shaky.

World

Weekend opinion polls showed Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero's government far behind the opposition, and that many voters believe he will have to call early elections as support for a 2011 austerity budget will be hard to muster.

"The government faces not only an economic crisis, but a political crisis too because the way it's governing is not good enough," said Angel Laborda, an economist at Spanish savings banks consultancy FUNCAS. "I believe that early elections will be called, sooner or later."

...It appears contained must not mean what I thought it meant...

May 30 (Bloomberg) -- An Icelandic political group called the “Best Party” won Reykjavik’s municipality elections after a campaign in which it promised a polar bear for the city’s zoo and “transparency in its corruption.”

The party, formed late last year and led by comedian Jon Gnarr Kristinsson, won 34.7 percent of the vote and will have six deputies in the city government.

...must have gotten his start as a blogger...

Proposed on hoocoodanode as a (fake) campaign slogan:

"A boiled frog in every pot."
