@Andy T (from other thread)

What odds will give you me that Houston WINS the game?

The ML odds at Pinnacle Sportsbook (Pinnacle is usually the most accurate)... Which is...

Houston +405

---

There's a difference between saying that Houston has "NO CHANCE (which I believe)... & actually transacting on that (which would basically be "infinity to one"...

In any case... For practical purposes... If you're so inclined, I'll lay you the Pinnacle ML odds (basically, 4-1)... Payable in Kennedy &/or Franklin Half dollar equivalents to par ($100)...

Let me know...

Thanks Ra,

AAibid, previous thread, re: filtered H²O... thinking about starting a business?

@CV.

Done on that. I'll put up 10 Franklin Half Dollars ($5.00 Face Value)...think that works out to to a little more than $100 but close enough for government work. I'm taking the 4-1 odds that Texans defeat the Ravens.

Thanks for the bet. Good luck.

Q4,

it is a 'Proposition'/'Opportunity' that has been presented..

One of things, about it, is that I'm ~"trying to figure out"(within the 'Business' case) which 'Prong' should be 'prioritized'..
~~

AT,

the U$D 5 'face value' is a ~20% Premium..

might want to be looking for U$D ~480, against it..

@AndyT

close enough for government work... That had me laughing...

But Mark is right on the premium (which makes the 'government work' analogy even FUNNIER)...

It's more like 37.25 to 10... So... I'll slide you the difference and call it 38-10 (Franklins or Kennedys ~ pre 64), (loser assumes FedEx charges as well)...

That's my final offer...

Please people... Don't be AS FUCKING STUPID as you were in 2008...

1948-1963 Franklin Half Dollar $0.50 $10.7387 2147.75%

not that it matters, though..

I was going with 22:1, or U$D 22 per $ 'face'..

re: above 'pricing'..

~21.4774:1

$5 'face' ~107.387..

@ 4-1

~429.54-100

this: "...is a ~20% Premium..." was the 'Math'/mental Error..should have been ~10%..

Weekly 3LB Update 1/13/12

AmenRa said...

New England found their defense. Not so sure that'll help them next week.

cv said...

@AAIP

as Andy says... "good enough for government work"...

He's getting a deal anyway... I've seen the ML as low as +300...

yes, though, note the caveat:

"not that it matters, though.."
~~

anyway, after that whipping, that the 'Horses' took, I'm sure that the 'hopes' of a "Home Game in Houston" are, thoroughly, dashed..

we'll see if Today's AFC 'Road Team' can do any better..
~~

or, for that matter, the NFC 'Road Team'..

you know, they're the only 'G-Men' I root for ~

Been a great game so far....

Despite that fucktard jacoby jones trying to give away the game early.

Andy T said...

Frustrating game for Houston fans. That Texan defense continually STUFFED that shitty ravens offense....

Too many bad passes.....terrible turnover at the 3 yard line....

You could not come away from this game thinking the ravens are that much better than Houston.

I don't give the ravens much of a chance at all against the patriots.

you know, for me, Today's AFC "Away" Team losing was way worse than Yesterday's..

Yesterday, the 'cos were Thrashed-out.

Today, it wasn't that the Ravens won, it was that the Texans Lost (that Game)..

seems like a difference~

ibid.

anyway, one more 'Away' Team, left, to be rooting for..esta Fin de Semana~!

@Andy

It's not the Ravens "shitty" offense, it's the "shitty" playcalling by Cam Cameron...

At this point, I'm going to go against all of my pre-season picks (Packers-Saints-Ravens-Patriots)... & hope for a Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh Superbowl...

cv said...

@Andy T

---

That's why you should stick to "wave counts"...

Some facts:

- Teams that score 40-plus in the playoffs are 3-19 ATS the following week since 1996

- Tom Brady is 9-11 ATS in the Playoffs

- The Patriotshad lost TWO straight, in Foxboro, in the playoffs before knocking off Tim Tebow...

- One of those losses was vs. the Ravens

Just saying... "look before you leap"...

cv said...

BTW...

The last two times the New York Giants were in the Superbowl they...

- Beat the New England Patriots
- Lost to the Baltimore Ravens

Andy T said...

It's going to be the Giants v. Patriots for a redux of the 2007 season finale.

I think Matt schaub is just a mediocre QB, but he would have won that game. As hoffer pointed out, the Texans lost that game today. The ravens were shitty. They couldn't move the ball ONE single inch when they had to. Yates' "rookiness" came out today. For the record, I actually like Yates and hope the texans work with him the off season and give him a shot. He blew the game, but at least he was trying and wasn't scared.

The Giants are peaking at the right time and Eli is clutch. They'll beat the 49ers.

The ravens defense is too old and slow to keep up with the patriots right now.

AmenRa said...

They are still trying to downplay the S&P sovereign downgrades on all of the financial networks. They must be changing underwear hourly.

@Andy T

"The Ravens defense is too old and slow"

You're funny... Actually, there's a little truth to what you say (in that they are oldER & slowER than they were two years ago)... But to do what???

Keep up with that 'speed burner' Wes Welker (who is still playing injured)... Chad Ochocinco???

Sure, the Patriots have some tight ends they can throw to, but Brady stays in the pocket... Yates, OTOH, was fairly mobile, and if you hadn't checked, Andre Johnson isn't that bad, yet the Ravens picked him off 3 times and literally DROPPED 3 more interceptions...

Those were all throws that Brady would not have made (and probably taken a sack, or thrown the ball away)...

The Ravens had to play cautious (ZONE) secondary because they play a 3-4 defense and you need the Mike linebackers up in the box to stop Arian Foster and the two defensive ends setting the edge containment... The Texans were finding wide open spaces over top of the linebackers (because Ed Reed always plays a deep centerfield anyway)...

It won't be like that next week because New England has no running game... Brady isn't going to score 45 points...

As for the offense being anemic... First of all, they were playing off a BYE... All teams coming off of late byes are a little rusty on offense... EVEN Aaron Rodgers, if you didn't notice... The Texans have one of the top ranked defenses in the NFL, the Patriots are second to last...

Whatever - I think it will be a good game... The Ravens also couldn't get Torrey Smith going because Jonathan Joseph was playing him man... JJ deserves a lot of credit... He played his ass off...

The "wildcard" here are special teams... I don't know if you noticed, but the Ravens have one of the best punt cover teams in the NFL...

Houston played a good game... But the Ravens played an INTELLIGENT game... They made no mistakes (zero turnovers... zero penalties)... That's like, unheard of... The Ravens capitalized on the opposing teams turnovers (turning 2 early ones into 14 easy points & shutting down the game in the end with two more)...

Not flashy, but that's why they're in the AFC Championship game for the 2nd time in the last 3 years... Last year, they would have been there too, but they blew a 14 point lead at halftime to the Steelers... Why? Turnovers... 3 in the second half of that game, which is WHY the conservative offense this time...

The Patriots have been in exactly ZERO AFC Championships in the last 3 years...

Ravens are now 7-0 vs. playoff teams this year...

Patriots were 1-2, but now they're 2-2 after beating the 8-8 Broncos... twice...

cv said...

But of course... as always...

Don't let the facts fool you... ;-)

cv said...

I will say one thing though... I think Tom Brady is playing with a chip on his shoulder and would love a rematch against the New York Giants...

But I also know that this might be "it" for Ray Lewis & Ed Reed...

Plus, the incentive to get Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh into the SuperBowl this year...

Lot's of intrigue...

Anonymous said...

you know, re: Ravens

I will say that their Special teams (Punt coverage) did a Whale of a Job keeping the Texans 'pinned back'..

also, Ed Reed played a great game--that INT 'in the Endzone', was a fantastic catch..

hopefully, he wasn't Injured toward the end of the Game..

also, the WRs made some Awesome catches, along the Sidelines, as well..

the "0 penalties, 0 turnover"-thing was, also, a Big Help (obviously)..

esp. the "0 penalties" .. for the Ravens? wtf? that's a huge change!

used to be, it was difficult to see the Players on the Field--for all the 'Yellow Flags' flying about..

Hugely, glad the Billick is, finally, gone..

also, thought it was smart that they picked up Ricky Williams -- they should get him a few more 'touches' ..
~~~
one thing I though was really Strange..in that Game..
toward the End, ~3:00 left, Yates was on the Bench, by himself.
no one was talking to him, no Coaches, no Players..
what was that about?
I would thought that 'a Coach' would have been "talking to him/showing him pictures/giving him the "Here's what we're gonna do..""-action, but, no, none, nothing--on the Bench, by himself..
thought it odd..
Jeez Bruce...
Get out and have some fun once in awhile...
Watch a game... put a few bets on your favorite team... That kinda stuff...
Crunching the data on Spain unemployment numbers to figure out how that's going to effect ES Minis in a flailing fiat regime just doesn't cut it anymore... Even if being armed with such data makes one popular at cocktail parties...
Andy T said...
new thread up by the way....
but, AAIP...in re: your comments on Yates sitting along not getting coached up at all...
INDEED. I blame 1/2 the offensive meltdown on kubiak and the other half on the inexperience of Yates.
I mean c'mon man! You've got TWO times out left.. TWO minutes left in the game and only 40 yards to go to tie the game up.
You come out of the two minute warning and then guy JACKS one up into the endzone.
WTF?!
Seriously, what was said to the guy during the timeout? Whatever it was...it was not the correct advice.
Two minutes...two timeouts left only 40 yards to go...that's plenty of time to just run solid offensive plays. The dude was acting like they had no time left...
I'm so pissed and frustrated.
CV above: yes, Tom Brady is playing with a "chip" right now. I can that sense as well. I friggin' hate that guy, but when he's playing with a "chip" or 'something to prove,' it's a little scary.
