I bet MLB is pretty pissed about the financial outcome that will be the World Series. They lost big when both Philly AND the Yanks went down.

@Ben22:

I partially agree. I think you need either Philly or the Yankees (for ratings). Having both teams in would have been a disaster because:

1. Everyone that is west of Philly hates both teams
2. Not having a team west of Philly means that people west of Philly don't have a stake in the outcome.

I think that a Yankees + Giants world series would have been ratings ideal.

Wunsacon!

There you are man....

My defending you against the "tyranny" of Denise/dss caused all sorts of issues. Her condescending remarks to you is what caused me to dare to make a comment in her sphere.

So, just letting you know...that YOU caused all sorts of angst.

Ha.

Andy,

Nice work on the charts.

Not posting much of late. Busy with work and family.

Did catch some comments alluding to shinanigans elsewhere in the blog world. Andy: I thought it was agreed last summer, something to the effect of, if you ever engage with others out there again remind them of this time. You are like me trying to short, old man! We just never learn - lol.

I am very much liking Neely's work. His book is on my Xmas list.

Ra: Amazing how we can't even get a close above the 3LB. It is very magical, indeed.

Ben: Crazy how krazy Karl Denninger is the most sensible one out there these days.

Karen: did you dig anymore in to Hey! Rosetta?

McFearless said...

CV,
this first quarter, not exactly what we were looking for.

Faulk had Dallas winning while Sapp had the Giants. Bottom line was at 1-5 you can kiss the playoffs goodbye. The missed passes lead to the interceptions (one pass was too high). That punt was good and long but special teams broke down and Bryant found a lane to exploit.

wunsacon said...

Andy,

I'm afraid to look... ;-) Okay, that's as long as I can hold out without looking...[looking now] Which article? I looked back several days to the "Updating Mankiw" article and think I'm missing what you're referring to. In any case, thanks for defending me.

I see what you meant about "dss" being a bit obsessed with you. Do you know that the hyperlink attached to his/her handle goes to your blog??

...

Ironically, DSS [and VennData] might not realize it but I share some (much?) of their world-view and am trying to offer constructive criticism, by shooting down occasional arguments from them that I fear won't persuade anyone but people on the same side of the aisle. Further, the name "Bill Clinton" is like a lightning rod for me. Bill got lucky with the economy during his tenure. That's it. (And he passed some horrible legislation that meaningfully contributed to the 00's bubble/bust.) If Democrats want to credit anyone in that administration for fostering the growth of the 90's, they'd be better off crediting Al Gore.

wunsacon--

Yeah, it was the Mankiw stuff. I though you made some good points related to Capital Gains on property...how Clinton took the rate from 25% to 0% on most homes. It was salient and germane to the discussion on the Clinton tax regime.

I thought some of her comments were somewhat condescending towards you and a bit rude. In the past several weeks, she has called me out for being "rude" and "attacking" people.

In a "soft" way, I pointed out that she was being a bit hypocritical.

This is what I wrote on her blog:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Denise/dss,
You should be careful. A lesser person might thing you were engaging in an ad hominem attack against poor ol' Wunsacon with this:
'dss Says:
October 24th, 2010 at 2:00 am
Pay attention, wunsacon. The topic is not about capital gains or bubbles. If you want to discuss those issues then you need to start your own blog and have at it.....
....You were the one who didn’t know that Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy, so I am not sure that you have enough information to make any comments about the topic, much less expound about the Clinton record, or Mankiw’s ridiculous assumptions.'
Pot meet Kettle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That was my "vicious" comment, which was deleted, that led to a ruckus.

Funny stuff....

@Andy

Man... You LAMENT about my "luck" (which I admit I've been the beneficiary of)...

But tell me...

Who made the "coaching" decisions to squeeze every last point out of my lineup (by picking up Todd Heap & Olindo Mare off the waiver wire this week to fill in for my decimated BYE WEEK team)?

I also wanted to go SEATTLE (which I did in all other leagues)... but I settled for the 49ERS who also performed well on "D"...

It's the LITTLE THINGS my friend...

I earned this one with sweat and grey matter...

You can't tell me last weeks WIN (vs. ben) was any less thoughtful... I TRADED to get the Steelers D, and picked up Pierre Garcon on waivers to eek out a victory there...

This week... ALSO... I picked up players to BLOCK my opponent from picking them up...

That's why he was without a D...

Thinking mans game my friend! :-)

cv said...

@Andy

Wait... it even gets better...

Last week... THEM THUGS was playing Franchize... I knew going into the last two weeks that Them Thugs had to lose some games (because he was ahead in the POINT TOTAL tiebreaker)...

Franchize lost Jermichael Finley to the injury, so I traded him Tony Gonzalez to help him win that week (which he did)...

I got the Steelers D in return (which helped me win)...

Thinking! :-)

cv said...

@Andy

The cliche is CORRECT...

You play them ONE GAME AT A TIME!... I'm just thinking about next week...

AR -- I didn't have to rent it...just clicked and it played normally. I was walking around doing other things while I listened though so I only caught the tail end of some message that was scrolling across the bottom of the screen about the potential for censorship? Curious, but I didn't want to play it twice just for that.
